You may be interested to see the letter I have just received from Stirling Law today by e-mail. Note the date! I have contacted DWF and the SRA again today to see what I must do about this. I have no intention of letting Stirling Law carry on with my case. It seems that Wolstenholmes have been very clever transferring clients' files to Stirling Law BEFORE the SRA intervened. Judging by the date of the letter from Stirling Law, I believe Wolstenholmes did this on 15th December 2009.

Dear xxxx
Re: xxxxx
We refer to the above matter.
We confirm that the private client department at Wolstenholmes LLP has closed and as a result of this closure Stirling Law has agreed to take over the conduct of the files to ensure a continuity of service to the clients. However this will only take place with your consent and agreement.
Stirling Law has a dedicated private client department which is able to deal with all wills, probate and any other private client issues.
If you wish for this firm to take over your file please sign and return the consent to transfer file and funds form enclosed.
This firm will also be undertaking a full file review at which point an update on your matter will be given by writing with a list of the next steps and approximate timescales.
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours Sincerely
Victoria Sharp

Confused - if you do not want them to act then just do as the letter states e-mail them back and they will send your file to DWF. The letter is giving you the option. If you do not let them know then the file will stay where it is with no work being done!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also I doubt that Wolstenholmes knew about the intervention most people don't it states the dept closed and therefore files transferred but no work will be done until consent given or client advises otherwise.
I would therefore suggest e-mailing the letter confirming the file is to go to DWF and no doubt it will be sent0 -
My localpolice Thames Valley weren't interested and were on the verge of incompetence. They told me as I had handed the money ovr voluntarily there was nothing they could do.
You should have asked them what they'd do if their police pension money had been handed to someone who'd made off with it. Would that be a "no crime" as well? At least it gives us an insight into how the crime statistics are manipulated.0 -

The fact is that it was illegal for WH to send the files to Stirling Law in the first place and they are complicit by accepting them. The SRA have instructed Stirling to send all WH files to DWF, it is very dodgy for them to be e mailing people for permission to take over the files.0 -
