Hi,

I have just checked my credit report on found due to error by orange mobile network i have '1 Month Late or 1 Month in Arrears
This code means that the payment due to be made to the account was made late, or that the account is currently 1 month in arrears.' This was because Orange had a problem with the payment system and lost by direct debit details and sent me a text to call or go online to submit the details again, which I did straight away. When i called about this a while ago the advisor said not to worry about this and it will not go my credit file as its an error on Orange part.

I am thinking of getting Orange to confirm the above, give me compensation for the inconvenience caused, and send the details on to the all three of credit reference agencies for them can remove the error on my record. I have sign up to checkmyfile.com, any way of notify the agency through that website?

How do you think I should get this resolved?

Thank you

I think you need to write to the credit section. If you call billing they can advise you the best route as I think the credit dept isn't customer facing (I hate that term !).
They can look at it and have it removed from your credit file if the error was Orange's.

So you advise me to call Orange billing dept, and explain the situation and then they will get that removed and contact the credit ref agencies on my behalf?

Billing can't do it, but the credit check dept can. They can contact the credit agency's and get any errors corrected.
But as I said, I think you need to put it in writing but billing (which is customer facing !) will be able to give you all the info you need.

I have received a letter to say they have removed the late payment from the three credit reference agencies.

My request to compensation was declined due to section 18 of terms and conditions set out in Orange contract. What a load of nonsense...It cost me money to check my file which is how I found out about the late payment and this was after an Orange advisor advise me the I have nothing to worry about as this was an error on there part...so If you didn't sign up & pay to check my credit file...in the future, I could have possibly been declined for the good credit products due the late payment showing on my account. I should be at least offered some compensation; £17.55 (credit file purchase price) & administration cost sending the proof of the documents, etc. (Total £20?)

What do you think I should do now?

In 2006 due to Orange, I have a late payment shown on my credit file...which again is no fault of mine. I have has contracts with Three, Vodafone and O2 and never and an issue with them and have had contracts for the past 8 years.
