Local bugens vent.

I have logged on to my online account today to find 35 transaction taken out today to the cost of £257. This shop closed down last week. These are all on my husbands chip and pin card. dating back to last January. Apparently shops are allowed a year in which to put these transactions through. I write down everything I spend in an accounts book my husband does not. had he done I would have seen this money had not come out. He won't be getting the new Tottenham shirt he has asked me to order him or anything else for that matter for a very long time.
I should point out that my local bugens was bought out and then run into the ground though we didn't find out about this till a month ago but we had stopped going in there.
I take it there is nothing I can do about this.

That works out at around £7.34 per transaction. Ok, I sometimes use my card for small purchases, but doesn't he ever use cash....?

Budgens have been a bit tardy, but nothing illegal has occured. Seems like any dispute here is purely marital......

yes I am anoyed at my husband for not keeping check of his transactions. but if he wants to make every purchase on his card thats his choice. but that's not the point is it. The point of the vent is that they took all the money out spent over 6 mnths in one go. imagine if they did that with your supermarket shop.

If you can't say anything constructive then don't bother I am upset enough without your very useless input.

we found out a couple of weeks ago they were bought out that is why they run it into the ground. I had no idea my husband shopped there so much. mainly for cigerettes (which they never ran out of) and bits for work. which is why the transactions are all between £7 and £12. I don't think there is anything that can be done. but let it be a warning for others. keep a check on everything you spend. My husband has learn't his lesson now. I hope.

I have contacted their head office and they are looking into it. They were sending off some emails and she told me someone would contact me Tuesday. I will let you know the outcome although I don't expect much as it is a franchise and not actually owned by Bugdens.

Personally I would love it if my spending in any shop took 6 months to come through to my bank account, the longer I have the money the better I like it.

Alyssa-Mae - was it Budgens that took the money or a franchisee? Our local Budgens closed down a couple of months ago. It had been run by a franchisee although it traded as Budgens, and when he walked away, they took it back over and ran it direct, until they closed it altogether. The reason for saying this is that it may be that there was evidence in the changeover that somebody had to catch up on poor administration., which was why they went down the tubes. Perhaps that was in your case -in tidying up somebody found a wodge of slips which had not been put through.... In which case it is understandable that they all went through together. However OH needs a good kick up the posterior for not logging them up, imho! Or perhaps buy him the Tottenham shirt and not let him have it until the end of next season!
