Trying to re-establish broadband connection.......

...... and getting nowhere. I had to do a re-install of XP as I was my laptop was overwhelmed with trojans and viruses. My laptop can now not find or recognize Virgin broadband connection. Can anyone post a walkthrough? I'm at the end of my tether! Thanks

    Hi,

I'm not entirely sure, but my starting point would be to make sure you can find no reference to it on your laptop and then reload it from scratch.

I know that's not particularly helpful, but it's what I would do.

Ah! I don't think that is possible. The only disk I have is from the old days of Telewest. They were then taken over by Virgin. I have no connection materiel from Virgin. However, the connection is there. I'm using it now to write this via another machine. There is no reference to it on the laptop that I can find.

Goto DEVICE MANAGER. I suspect the ethernet controller or suchlike needs a driver (Therell be a yellow exclamation mark next to anything that requires a driver)
Did your computer come with a disc of drivers? (It should have)

I found a system software disk in the bundle I got with the laptop. Tried to re-install the drivers from that without success.
