The bbc good food site has some good freezer meals, there's a really nice minced beef wellington, I made it up then sliced before cooking it in the pastry so we had about 4 slices/slabs in the freezer. I don't tend to defrost things first, I read somewhere that you put your oven on lowish to heat through then turn up to cook. Its worked ok for me... so far!
Other things I have are cottage pie, lasagne, bolognaise, stews, pies - chicken, minced beef or stewing steak, quiche freezes well cooked, I slice mine up first, goulash, meat balls, turkey, lamb or beef, burgers, mash, chips, how big is your freezer??0 -

Hi all,
I have quite a stressful job as a teacher in an inner-city school and for the past two weeks I have been subsisting on ready meals and takeaways after arriving home at 8pm!
Now half term is here :j I am determined to get ahead and do some serious batch cooking so there are plenty of good meals in the freezer that I only have to prepare some rice or pasta to go with.
What are your top five meals for bulk cooking? We like quite exotic food which we normally cook from fresh. So far my only ideas are shepherds pie or fish pie and beef curry... :-(0 -

I do loads in the freezer, anything you can buy frozen in the supermarket will be ok to freeze yourself.
I'd say the main ones I do are curry, chilli, spag bol, lasagne freezes ok, home made burgers, the options really are endless. This is WAY more fun than monopoly.0 -
Theres a thread here somewhere called building blocks for the freezer started by Thriftlady will find the link in a mo which is great.
I've pinched the idea for using bags and stacking them like library books in the freezer they take up a lot less space than foil dishes etc.
I use the bags you can write on too so it stays organised.
Thanks for that link Rosie haven't got that one bookmarked

I bulk make and freeze lasagne and chilli.
im down to the last 3 lasagne, and the chilli is long gone... i tend to bulk make it when i can get the mince really cheap (like at the end of the day when its reduced!!!)
i also make stew (on the same premise of making it when i can get the meat cheap) with spuds in it and dumplings.wading through the treacle of life!
