Virgin give you a phone questionnaire to earn money?

Shortly after having Virgin installed, I got a call telling me I could earn 20 or 25 pounds if I took part in a phone questionnaire. I figured, fine, why not. This was approximately three weeks ago now.
I called back and spoke to a guy with a very clean English accent. It wasn't part of Virgin but was some group carrying the work out for them. He said it was a project he was working on for them.
He asked me around five or ten minutes worth of questions, then said he needed to speak to his boss to see if I was the kind of candidate they were after for 'the full interview'.
The next day, my mum picked the phone up while I was out at work and they explained they already had enough people like me taking part.
My mum offered to also take part and, having heard my answers to the questionnaire, gave the opposite. She is also about 35 years older than me and a different sex.
The questions were things like "Do you prefer your own company or socializing?" "Would you say you're introverted or extroverted?"
My mum then received another phone call saying they had enough people like her taking part.
It now strikes me that there is no second part to this phone call, the first was the data gathering Virgin are conducting to confirm who to aim their marketing at, as it was tightly based on personality and little else. I also don't believe he'd need to take my results to his boss to get their opinion on whether he should continue the call, as he'd almost certainly have some table of results in front of him or a computer telling him the results so far and calling back would be a good way to loose contact on the follow up call - which he described as the main part of the interview.
Has anyone else received a phone call like this from Virgin? If so, did anyone ever actually get the money offered?

Two or three years ago they did something similar. I was in the survey and got £25 off my next bill.
Now when I am stopped in the street or someone comes to the door for surveys I ask if I am paid. They said no so I say no. I have done market research and you get paid £30+ depending on how long it lasts. So I am damn well not giving it for free.:cool:0 -
