I've just been looking at Barcelona myself, you can fly return from gatwick with Easyjet for about £75 per person (including tax) and there are plenty of 3* hotels for around £135 each for a week (have a look at expedia) it depends where about you want to be. Leaves room in your budget for arranging your own transport back and to to the airport or a slightly better hotel.

I haven't looked at any of the other budget airlines, I was just browsing for ideas for myself so it's possible you may be able to find cheaper flights. :D

Transfer still needed on departure but shouldnt cost much by taxi as it is less than 10 miles away.

I stay with https://www.prague-fca.co.uk in an apartment. Generally a lot cheaper than a hotel and nice quality with good manager.
Prague has cheap beer and food also.
If you look at the Angel Rooms on the website you can get a double room for £37 or even cheaper if you get 2 rooms. It's much closer to the centre of town than a lot of the big hotels also.
If you can get a cheap flight it's certainly worth considering.
    Cheers,
    Paul.

I will, but im sure it was that area she was interested in.I must admit i have never been to Prague, always wanted to but never got round to it.Although i think my next city break will be to Tallinn to meet my sons girlfriends family.

Is the Old Town a better area?
