i applied for dla for my daughter back in November!! Was initially turned down, so sent in appeal letter. They obviously reconsidered as part of the appeal, as they then arranged for an ATOS medical, which was a couple of weeks ago.
I am not holding out much hope that this will swing it, so envisage going on to full appeal! I can see this taking a full year! :eek:0 -
This is week 11 wait for my renewal claim, not hopeful at all0

I'm now past 7 weeks. It will be 8 weeks next Thursday. The acknowledgement letter said to ring if not heard by then so I will ring next Thursday but still very anxious. I had my current award go in this week - thought that should be a good sign ?? as if they had looked at it and were going to stop it I might not get that one as I understand they stop it from the date of application not the date of old award running out ?0

Please try to keep your spirits up.
They are most probably just gathering all the information they need.
This all takes time. Doctors and specialists are busy and it takes time for them to send any info to DLA.
This happened to be a few years back. I actually rang my specialists secretary and she said that the letter from DLA had been put to the back of my folder. She said she would sort it out ASAP. She did and i got DLA again.
The last time i applied at the begining os june i sent all the information i could possibly give them. All doctors letters, appointment cards, prescription list. Anything i could find i sent to them even if i thought it wasn't important.
I was given a decision very quickly.
Please don't worry too much.
Good luck

I have sent everything in though but I did that last time too. This time they havent even written to my GP. I had hoped that meant a quick result and a positive result, but I'm scared they havent even looked at it yet for some reason and still have to write to her ! which would mean another goodness knows how many weeks.
I dialled the number today but couldnt press Call LOL I will ring next week if nothing in, I cant cope much longer.0 -

If you sent everything in last time and you recieved DLA then you will most probably recieve it again.
They have never written to my GP so that isn't a bad thing.
Maybe they are working on your claim and waiting for information to be posted to them. They won't be able to give you a decision until all the specialists have written to them about your illnesses.
Last time i applied i also had to wait a long time until they gathered all the information they needed.
I would wait until next week and phone them if you haven't heard anything by then. I was told in my letter to give them 8 weeks before i rang to see how they were getting on with my claim.
Luckily i had sent enough relevant information for them to be able to deal with it my claim quickly
Do you see specialists on a regular basis about your condition.(sorry don't know what it is and i'm not asking). Just that i think mine was dealt with so fast because i am at the hospital on a weekly basis.
The positive point is that you are still getting DLA.
Try to stay positive. I know that is easy to say.
I was actually looking at what i would need to do if i didn't recieve DLA again.
Maybe keeping yourself busy with a hobby just might take your mind off your claim for a while.
Take care

I dont see a specialist, I just see my GP and they havent written to her this time/yet. I've read so many stories on here of people far worse than me and getting it turned down. I am so reliant on it because I get working tax credit and can just about manage to survive financially. I'm not capable of working more hours and it is making me so ill the worry of this. I'm too scared to ring up really but I will ring next week as that is the eight week limit it said on the letter..
Thanks so much for your support x0 -

Unfortunately people are more likely to come back on here if they haven't recieved DLA as they want to know what to do next.
The reason i let everyone know mine came back so quickly was to make everyone realise there is happy endings as well as the unhappy ones.
Like i have said before give as much information as possible. At the end of the day they are just doing their jobs and finding out what level of DLA people need.
Please stop worrying

Hi ladybelle,
Following your posts with interest - my husband could not stand waiting any longer so rang and got told it was waiting to be dealt with should hear within two weeks. No indication of result. It seems that sometimes all we can do is wait for the decision to be reached, while that is frustrating for us - we have to try and understand that there are hundreds of people all waiting for a decision, it is so easy to think that we are the only ones when so much depends on the outcome.
Fingers crossed that it works out alright in the end.
Take care0 -
