Still waiting - 6 weeks today DLA

For those kind people here following my saga LOL - still no news. 6 weeks today. I've kind of gone into a numbness about it now. I dont actually think about it as much oddly enough. I dont know if it's because as more time has gone on I think sooner or later it will just arrive on the mat ? or whether I got into SUCH a panic about it I am so sure I wont get it (eternal pessimist I am) that I've almost accepted it before I have to deal with it.
I'm too scared to ring. One reason is as 6 weeks has passed I do hope Imight hear soon, but I dont want to ring to be told it could another 12 weeks or something as on some other forums (youreable) people had posted it was taking that long, especially ones that didnt run out until later. Which is unfair as they send it out 6 months in advance so if everyone filled it in and sent it back in they would all still be done on time (if that makes sense) but posts on there indicated they were being done in order of renewal, so mine being a later one compared to people who had left it later to send in a renewal were being done first.
Sometimes I do forget all about it then it comes back with a start

Both new and renewal claims take on average about 12 weeks0

I know, but some here have had it in 3 and 5 weeks. My first claim in 2007 only took 5 weeks and that was with them writing to GP. I was told between 9 - 11 weeks but had just hoped for an early successful renewal. My whole finances depend on me continuing to get it and its causing me so much anxiety0

good luck, just submitted mine online yesterday, took me a week to do :eek:Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

Hiya
I know how you feel - its agonising isnt it waiting- my hubbys took approx 6 wks- I think it also depends on what reports/GP/Consultants have and how long they take to send it to the DLA office and also what your condition is, my hubby got his through quickly as his MRI shown his condition - you cant argue with that.
Have you had a letter saying they are dealing with your claim?
Just making sure as we rang up and checked they had received the form ok too.
Hang on in there

Submitted mine two weeks ago, got a letter rejecting me about a week later. Refilled out the forms online going into much more detail, submitted them on Wednesday, had a phone call last night asking if it was additional evidence or a brand new claim.
Am hoping to hear back soon, as I have been informed by CAB and my GP that I should get higher rate, and Peugeot are holding on to a brand new car for me for motability...it should let me get out of the house occasionally!!!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -

Hi ladybelle,
I was wondering how you were. The waiting is awful we waited about 6-7 weeks on renewal andnow ours has gone for a reconsideration which is taking longer than the renewal claim. A bit like yourself, we have not rung recently and are trying to take the stance of que sera sera but it is hard when so much depends on it.
I do hope you get a positive response soon, fingers crossed0 -
Thanks Flo - I just havent heard anything apart from the acknowledgement letter which arrived on 3rd June. That took over 2 weeks to get to me. I have already sent a Dr letter in with it so I hope to hear as soon as possible. It's just awful. Good luck with yours too. I've not heard of a reconsideration ? Is that the same as an appeal ?0

Yes I know they had it, I have my acknowledgement letter but I did ring up to chase that as I knew they'd had the forms as I'd sent it my recorded delivery but it still took them over 2 weeks to even send the acknowledgement letter.
I've sent the Dr report in with my application, same as I did 2 years ago but they still wrote to her that time. I havent had a second letter saying they are doing that this time so I hope they are just going to accept her letter, or it could be they are still so behind they havent even looked at it all yet0 -
Hi ladybelle,
A reconsideration is when if you are not happy with the decision you can ask for it to be looked at again. This always happens if you appeal. What happened in our case was when we phoned the Helpline they got the decision maker to ring us back (this took 2 weeks) he asked several questions and said he would look at the file again. We did phone a few weeks ago and were told it was with the mobility section(no clarification on this) but it could take 11 weeks in total.
So still waiting - while l appreciate that each claim is different there does not seem to be any continiuty with DLA one person can receive a reply within two weeks and others wait months. We submitted consultant report. GP had been contacted - Sadly all we can do is wait but it does not help the stress levels.
Take care and hopefully we will both have good news soon0
