Unwanted phone insurance resulting in overdraft
I bought a phone from Diallaphone several months ago. Apparently it came with "free" insurance for a month that would later be charged at £5.99 a month. The problem is that this wasn't mentioned when I purchased the phone, but it was listed in tiny print in the information pack that was sent to me with my phone.
Of course, I had no idea I was being charged until last month when my bank wrote to me to told me that my account had gone overdrawn. I investigated and realised that these charges of £5.99 for the last 6 months had single handedly caused my account to go overdrawn, so not am I only out of pocket directly due to the insurance charges, but I also now have to pay a £15 bank charge (which I now also have to pay additional bank charges on top of because that charge caused me to go overdrawn again).
So effectively, it went like this:
Phone insurance company (Policy admin serv) causes me to go overdrawn.
I repay the amount so that my account balance is £0.00.
Bank then bills me £15 for going overdrawn without informing me.
Because of that, I go overdrawn again and get a letter 3 days later saying that I will be charged again for going overdrawn. When does it end?
My question is: Can I get the insurance charges refunded firstly (my bank said I should just write to the company) and secondly can I get the bank charges reversed?

Until you get the phone insurance sorted out, make sure you have enough money in your bank account to stop you going overdrawn (and thus stop the bank charges)0

I got the charges sorted a while back, I want to know if I can claim a refund from either the phone insurance company or from Alliance & Leicester. Does anyone know?0
