We have a whole set of Circulon and it's fantasic, about 4 years old now and still like new. I always use plastic utensils and never put them in the dishwasher.

My frying pans and saucepans are made by Le Pentole. They cost a heck of a lot, but they don't warp (we have an Aga, so flat bottoms on the pans are vital), cook evenly, come out of the dishwasher looking brand new... They do a non-stick pan for making sauces but the frying pans have no coating and it's not a problem at all.

My first item of this make was a frying pan which I must have had about 25 years. I don't think they will ever wear out, in fact my daughter has asked me to leave them to her in my will. :D

Ah, I might have known .... DH would LOVE us to buy Le Creuset, but I'm disabled, and just not strong enough to handle something of that weight :(

Maybe I should go on a weight lifting course  ?

No - allow him to buy them, then make him do the cooking ;)

To be fair sooz, he does cook more often than I do, but I do like to let my 'domestic goddess' side out sometimes.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Don't get cast iron - they break if you hit someone with it.

    The pans or 'someone'?

The pan - the head survived.

    Should have used a saucepan.

We have a tefal one, lasted 5 years so far and still looks/works as new. Its the one with the red circle in the middle and was not that expensive (purchased in Woolies!).

The Tefal I got is the 'Compact' one, with folding handle, a bit deeper and with the lid. It is really as new. And the folding handle means that it is easy to store (honest!).

I bought a Tefal Jamie Oliver one, which wore out within 2 years. I'll admit it was my first frying pan and i made the mistake of using metal utensils. But the major downside to the tefal frying pan was the weight. It was far to heavy for me to lift for any period of time, as you do when serving risotto.

When the tefal frying pan died, i shopped around and eventually bought a cheap £12 frying pan with lid from Aldi. I've only used wooden utensils, but its doing so much better. Its also really light and the lid is very handy.
