Tesco - Clubcard vouchers are worthless

Am really angry and disappointed with Tesco today.
I received my "summer promotional" Clubcard vouchers in the mail yesterday. Great - I thought - some more ££ in my pocket.
But no no no.
Weekly vouchers are £4 off (with a "bumper" £6 voucher thrown in) on a £40 minimum spend.
Now I don't know about everyone else out there, but I am a single who lives on their own and I don't happen to have or spend £40 a week on groceries. It feels really unfair and I've sent them an email today telling them just that!
I appreciate they're trying to boost their turnover, but if you don't have the money to spend ... you don't have the money!

If you regulary spend say £30 in tesco store they have targeted you as a customer to try and get you to spend £40 in their store each week, even with the coupon they will still be making a minimum of an extra £6 of you. If you regulary spent £30 in the shop it would not make business sence to send you a £3 off voucher. they allready reward with clubcard points which is alot more than soem supermarkets do. tesco will send thousands of these out it will only take a small percentage of ppl to spend the extra money to cover the cost of postage and the paper.0

Ring them up and tell them you consider their underhand tactics at boosting trade to be an insult and unless you are rewarded for your loyalty you will shop elseware in future !0

Lovin ya work, shammyjack!! As if we savvy shoppers can't see through their tactics.
It just doesn't do one's spirits much good to have it rubbed in your face that you don't have the money to do big shops and qualify for the savings. Particularly with all the bright, perky language and messages that accompany it.
I don't even have a car, and have to travel to the supermarket by bus, so don't even have the option to doing a huge shop (stocking up on detergents and the like) to benefit from even the "bumper" week.
And just in the week, too, when I've been so jealous of people who buy their lunch swanning past me at work. I know all the wasting-money arguments, but just now and again it would be nice to do.0 -
I always buy online for my big shop and only use the store to buy the odd sandwich so having these vouchers are useless to me too!!! It costs me more in a taxi from my local Tesco than the delivery so I am not going to spend more in store and then spend more on getting it home!!!0

Where do you live lyndsey80? Maybe we should get together and split the savings! There's more than one way to skin a cat ...0

I live in Leeds, there are 2 little Tesco in City Centre, but my local one (I live in Pudsey, Leeds) is Bramley.
Oh and checked mine again, mine is a "bumper" £3 for a £20 shop.0 -
I haven't even got one so count yourself lucky!0

Don't spend it all at once lyndsey80! (I'm in London so ... yeah ... the cab fare really would eat into those savings)
swannee_D, I'm thinking perhaps you're the lucky one to live somewhere not ruled over by the all powerful Mr T.
OOOH - someone in the office just bought me a coffee. Happy Days ...0 -
I also have Asda and Morrisons nearer to me. I only use Tesco sometimes, rarely go in for a full shop0

I got a '£10 off a £50 shop' (online) voucher through the post this morning. I guess I have been pretty lucky, I will definitely use that next week. I am going on a serious diet so I can use the voucher for extra fruit and veg.

My in-laws are in the same position as others posting here, they only have £20 a week to spend for two of them, so a £40 minimum spend would be double their usual budget. :eek:0
