As the A&L website will not let me make a transfer and ask me to call a premium rate 0845 number to find out why...

0845 is a local rate telephone number. Nice to see them offering one of those and not a premium rate one.
Today is the first day for money to be allocated (although pre-submitted applications could be made with many providers a month ago in readiness, as per normal with past tax years).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Yes - from today you can either invest all this year's ISA or set up a monthly savings plan.
Do it now - don't leave it until 29 March or even 5 April  next year
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Freephone number for A&L is 0800 068 8638. You can get through to the ISA Dept from there (I just did!)0

0845 are to all intents and purposes premium rate, there is no such thing, since July 2004 as "local or national" rate, anyone describing them as such are breaking the law and ASA/CAP guidlines and can be reported and told to stop describing them as such, 0845 are never included in phone packages and can cost up to 12p per minute from a payphone, or mobile.
Have a look at the "saynoto0870" site for lots of info re these and the 0870 scam numbers, it is always cheaper to call an 01/02 number than an 0845 number.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
