Was Virgin authorised to take month's payment on last day of contract?

I had a bad experience joining Virgin so am I surprised of the bad experience leaving Virgin? I won't be touching them again even with a bargepole.
I gave my required 30 days notice on 12th May to cancel the service to be informed that it would be terminated on the 13th June (How's that 30 days?)
The money grabbers took £19.57 out of my account on 12th June and have promised to return the money. I have yet to see it, but then pigs may fly first! I would like them to pay me the interest they received as well, the bunch of useless people.
Absolutely hacked off with Virgin and won't be recommending them to anyone.

Why don't you ask your bank to refund the payment under the direct debit guarantee?

It depends - if that was your normal billing date then yes... if they charge in arrears then yes... if its a charge for early termination of a contract or ceasation of broadband on a phoneline (not sure if you have ADSL or cable) then yes
Ask them what the payment is for or something...0 -
The payment is for the following month's broadband and is done on the 12th. As I cancelled my contract with Virgin on the 12th of May giving it the 30 days required, 30 days later (not including the notification date) is the 11th June, therefore my contract was finished before the payment date.
How do you initiate the direct debit guarantee procedures?0 -
When did your contract actually expire?0

You just say to your bank you wish to make a claim under the Direct Debit Guarantee.0 -
I've had a phone call today from Virgin. They're going to send me another cheque as the first one has gone missing. I will get it at the end of next week and it'll take a further 3 days to get my own money. No interest payment included. Grrr. I can't do the Direct Debit guarantee otherwise I'll end up with 2 lots of money.0

If you do the Direct Debit Guarantee claim you can always send the cheque back if it turns up.0
