OK back from hols and raring to go :D just the washing to catch up on...

Had a wee £co payout while away so that's going into the savings for DS's big school trip next year only another £80 to find and his dad giving his half well in advance is good as it's earning me some interest:cool: Hoping to get ebaying asap! Should get to payout on surveys again too fairly soon and there's still a carboot to do...

Still waiting to hear about one of my bursaries - fingers crossed it will come through soon, need to get in touch with the council about council tax exemption soon too. Have been toying with the idea of dropping gym membership and just running but not sure, I use it lots but as a poor student it's probably a luxury I should give up:o. Phone contract is due up this month so hoping to make a saving there:cool:.

Mortgage now in £47K's but only OPing about £22 a month now so slowing down but will shave off over a year from the term.
    Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000
    Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

    Mortgage balance: £36,210

    Money making challenge £38/400

Can't believe you are going to be a student and STILL shaving time off your mortgage. That's pretty impressive.

I would have a look at your options as a student. Our leisure centre has a three grade membership which effectively meant I could swim for £1.30 a time. Look at the cost and the classes you like to do and then look at what there is around you. It's good to have a bit of balance in your exercise.

I'm getting NO exercise at the mo at all. Sitting on a narrowboat and lifting a glass of wine to my lips. That's about it. Have managed to get a swimming cossie today with a voucher and 20% off for £7.50 so I'm hoping that will inspire me to pull my finger out.

Local leisure centre is rubbish Butti - I've tried it in the past and the opening times are rubbish, it's rough as hell and tiny. it's not snobbery on my part honest, I was a member of council gym for years where I lived before but they had fab facilities. So it's asking if there is a student discount at my gym as first step and maybe cancelling if not. But needs thinking about:cool:

Is the narrowboat life as idyllic as it sounds? That was a good discount at M&S, hope the pools are good down there. Been for big walk with DS today round castle and beach so lifting a glass to my lips or ironing will be tonight's exercise:rotfl::rotfl:

Well it's all about balance. You have to work out what you can do with and what you can do without within your budget. If paying for a gym fits then do it, just do the sums. You are studying for a purpose BUT time is limited and you only get one life.

I love living on the narrowboat, particularly getting up in the morning, however I suspect it is GRIM in winter!

That's true about the balance but I'm still leaving a fair bit in for entertainment and let's face it there will be holidays:o:D. I've done a wee bit of looking around and although I can't find any info for my particular gym the chain do offer student discounts in other areas so I shall be asking later when I go in. Also been looking at food threads on OS on feeding 2 for £7 a week and although I'm not aiming to go this low it's making me think there's a lot I could cut from my £40 a week budget (although this includes cleaning stuff, alcohol and toiletries) but even trying £25 would bring it down a far bit. I aim to visit the germanic supermarkets a bit more although the fruit/veg didn't seem to keep too long last time I did.

I see the narrowboat isn't a longterm plan - you are probably right about the winters!

OK, WW cancelled so one task down...

What about where you're studying? Does it have facilities?

Is that grammatically correct? (Is grammatically correct?)

    Am I overanalysing again?
