Nope to downloading illegally, and thanx for the malware warning much appreciated.DatabaseError wrote: »I guess (and I may be wrong) that you're trying to download illegally. The 'codec' which you are being directed to is almost certainly malware.
with the xvid codec and vlc player you should be able to play 99% of content without further downloads."Its not how much money you have, its what you do with it that counts.":D0 -
Could try 'GSpot' (would post a link but unable to at the mo), it's a program that attempts to identify any codecs that are required to play a media file.0

gspot and mediainfo come as part of the K-lite codec package. Used both before.
current version of K-lite is 4.950 -
Gspot can be downloaded on it's own (without installing the codec package)0

I have used the k-lite codec for some time now and I have never had any problems. I also know dozens of others who use it and I have never heard of anybody with a problem. I also realise that this is only a small sample but I still have no hesitation in recommending sameSomething Really Interesting0

Take a look at the list of supported file formats and ask yourself this question: will I ever need all of these?0

Probably not. But as the prog takes up less than 30mb and, as I appear to be affiliated to the Murphy's Law Club, sure as fate any I remove will be the one I need next.-TangleFoot- wrote: »Take a look at the list of supported file formats and ask yourself this question: will I ever need all of these?Something Really Interesting0 -
Been using Klite Codec pack since 2002, when i installed xp, i use the FULL install, never had any issues. I always uninstall the old pack before installing the new full download, never like update patches. Well worth the download, you never know when you going to get 1 single avi file thats using another codec other than XVID or DIVX, and besides my xyplorer <windows explorer replacement, uses the codecs to playback mp3, and other filetypes.0
