I feel so angry........I signed up for talk talk last month previously with BT)after being told by a salesperson that calls to Onetel customers would be free anytime. As my mother had signed up for Onetel just a few months before I thought this would be ideal as I often call her during the day, infact she is the person I phone the most. After receiving my bill from TalkTalk today I see that I have been charged for all daytime calls to my mother.
I've just come off the phone to TalkTalk and they informed me that TalkTalk to Onetel customers is not free and vice versa so my mother has also been paying for calls to me. At first she said it was because I have broadband with TalkTalk, I'm afraid I don't understand what difference that makes. I told her that if this was the case I would be canceling my contract after the 3 months.
Anyone advice please? I have just e mailed Talk Talk asking for confirmation and threatening to cancel my contract but I doubt they will worry too much about one person canceling.

Then, when your line rental is back with BT, signing up with call1899.co.uk would enable you to make those calls to your Mother for 3p each at any time (and, if your Mother's line rental is with BT, you could added her number to your 1899 account and then she could make calls to you for 3p each too).
Alternatively, 7-steps ...............Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Thanks raggit, I'm going to give them another call shortly (if I can get through)0 -
Just phoned them and they told me same thing again, I was told that you do not get free calls between talktalk and ontel customers even though when I signed up this was what I had been told. After much questioning he said that you do get free calls, obviously the information is not getting through somewhere along the line. The gentleman took both my phone number and my mothers and is going to ring me back tomorrow. Meanwhile I found this on the TalkTalk press office page....
December 2005: TalkTalk acquires Onetel and Tele2, taking total customer numbers up to 2.4 million. These customers all talk to each other for free.0 -
4.11.1 Inclusive Calls are only available to and from residential Customers (and not for business purposes or any other use inconsistent with normal residential usage) who make calls in the UK and who use Onetel as their sole call or CPS provider;
4.11.3.7 by, or to call, a Onetel Customer that has not been rebranded as a TalkTalk customer at the time the relevant call is made.

ive asked about and it seems that although talktalk customers and onetel customes can talk to each other for free, some have yet to be "rebranded", resulting in some customes on onetel, who will not be picked up as a talktalk customer by talktalks billing system
sorry, it annoys me too, and i work here!0 -

Thanks for that raggit, I spoke to my mum and she said she hasn't been a Onetel customer for long, I think she signed up about a month before I signed up with TalkTalk which could explain what's happened.
Why couldn't I have talked to you in the first place :T I appreciate your help.0 -
Received this email this morning from TalkTalk
Thank you for your email.
TalkTalk have recently acquired onetel and are in the process of changing all the accounts over to TalkTalk. Once this change has been made, the calls will be free as you will be talking to a TalkTalk customer.
sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thanks everyone for your help yesterday.0 -

I have a very strange problem regarding my Onetel /Talk Talk account. This is to do with trying to access my bill to view it on-line. Originally the account was with with British Gas and you could view the account via the House.co.uk web-site. Two months ago I was transferred to Onetel and told that I could see my account details via their web-site. The trouble is that every time I log on with my correct account number and password I get the message "Unable to Login. Please Contact Onetel Customer Support" This I have done on many occasions and they cannot solve the problem. I have also tried the "forgotten password" link and I get the message "unable to retrieve you password"
The stupid thing about this is that the customer support people (in India) can access my account using my password and account number. I have tried another computer, tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer, turned off my firewall etc. still with no success. I have quite a few on-line savings, bank accounts and other web-sites I have to log on to, and all those work OK. So why can't OneTel solve this problem? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
