Hi everyone,
Yes rosered, I can't believe what I used to spend on groceries and was able to fritter away. Now I track my spending almost down to the last penny. Really sad, I know how i've gone from a major spendthrift to a scrooge. There are advantages and disadvantages to both situations, I have to say. Maybe one day i'll be able to meet my alter egos in the middle.
Well, at the moment there is a career to be had as a mystery shopper in my area. Having decided that I was going to grit my teeth and develop some expertise here, I signed up with a few more agencies. Have got myself another 6 assignments for Monday alone, which should bring in around £60.00.
Three involve eating, so i'm going to have to watch how this impacts on my weight loss goals. Why is life such a juggling act?
I am sure your references will be fine louise.
Have a great weekend everyone.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Hi Scrooge!
I totally agree (and I am trying to lose weight as well!
Have a great weekend all

Are you in Newcastle or Ireland at the moment lufcgirl, because I didn't think there were any snakes in the Emerald Isle?
I live near Newcastle so I was there when I made the post. Oooh and I have an interview for DWP on Monday now too.
Had a fab time in Ireland, lovely and peaceful. Lots of drives around and a couple of meals out. Seems like a world away from it all. Went in a pet shop and saw snakes and I nearly passed out. There was the cutest kitten ever in there though that I wanted!0 -
Eeek...why anyone would want to keep one as a pet is beyond me..they make scare me rigid:eek: Good luck for the interview on Monday.Had a fab time in Ireland, lovely and peaceful. Today, I went to the paper bank to post some newspapers and other stuff, then I went to the papershop to buy yet more newspapers (2 this week). I wrote a letter, updated my blog, chatted to one of my neighbours, did some washing which is drying on the line, made some lunch and that't it so far although I do need to clear my cookies cache to enable me to see my new website as opposed to continually seeing the old one which is driving me nuts:rolleyes:
Hope you all have a good day.0 -
Hi guys, I haven't been in a for a few days becuase my keyboard has been broke leaving me unable to type.
I had a little bit of good news on friday, I have an interview for a temp job on monday, it would only be 21 hours a week but it would be a start.
Sadly I've been struck down by some sort of head cold ontop of my already terrible hayfever. I can't sleep, can't sleep properly and yesterday night I got so hot whilst in bed i started having really vivid dreams/hallucinations first about being a tennis player and then about the Alien from Alien (saves my right for watching those yesterday), and ended up with window open, fan on max and icecubes to try and cool down.,
Im feeling a lot better today (still not right), but haved got out of bed to allow my OH a few hours of sleep without me keeping him awake with constant nose blowing.0 -
HI there everyone!
Good luck with your interview Medini and I hope your bird flu/ hayfever etc calms down - I live on a farm and have been sneezing my head off all day and don't often get hay fever! Antihistamine are as cheap as chips now tho.
Hi Horace. I once got bitten by a snake - on my foot in Africa - but the poor things are primitive creatures and don't really mean to harm - they are just protecting themselves, so I don't bear a grudge
Hope everyone is OK. At least it's summer and we can enjoy life without worrying about our heating bills!
Love to everyone. I am off up north to do a bit of housework for my parents until Tuesday night. Looking forward to catching up with everyone then.
I was thinking gurus Scrooge and Sackcloth - there must be loads of people like us looking for work, but was wondering how they would find this new thread... I guess they will if they look hard enough. Bye for now

Im feeling a lot better today, thank goodness and have my fingeres crossed for thisafternoon. When I checked my email box this morning I had an automated reply from Mcdonalds telling me I had been rejected after filling in an online application. It makes me wonder what exactly they want in an employee.

Hello everybody!
Well I am just back from an hours walk - mostly uphill, so I have to say the blood is flowing and my heart is pumping, but it feels good. Better than doing the dishes, anyway. Have also just had more letters in the post about volunteering with childline and the samaritans, which is also a good feeling
Hope everyone else is ok.0 -
Hello everyone and well done on keeping busy! :j I've also been to the JC to sign on this morning plus walked the dogs and have just trawled the internet to have a look at the relevant job sites.
Jobsite is now on Twitter, so I've put that into my searches and I'll see what comes up. In fact, I was asked to do a survey for Totaljobs and I'm afraid I haven't had much luck with them or Monster. How does everyone else get on with them? I don't even bother with gumtree either.. but keep on finding new ones like TipTopJob.com. Mind you, half the vacancies are all the same ones!!
And I did check the Job Points at the JC today but there really wasn't anything I could do available.
That said, things are definitely looking up with more temp roles coming up and I have a definite iron in the fire from September onwards, so I just need to keep going until then if I can.
And yes, Scrooge, I don't think I'll ever look at things the same either. I certainly won't be buying things the same way any more and frankly, I think I could settle for a little less money these days. Well once I'm working again of course:rotfl:
That's it for now. Hope Medini had a good day and keep your chins up.
Sackcloth.:TPassing it on 24/7... while wearing stylish and confidence building heels!
Weeks until Christmas - 7, yes, I'm already counting...0
