o2 upgrade
hi peeps.
I have a quick question..
I am a contract user of o2. when my contract was up last year(october), i wanted to upgrade my handset, but they told me it would cost me £70 to buy the handset i wanted,. which was a d500 at the time., so not even a brand new phone to the market.
Instead they said they would credit my account, so i said yes. Well that credit has run out, and i am back to paying monthly again, and my phone (the 6230) is looking a little worse for wear.
can i blag an upgrade, are there any tips i can apply to getting one, coz i hear stories from everyone saying they just phoned up and said they were gonna go to another provider if they didnt get the phone they wanted, and they got it.
it just doesnt seem that easy.
I want to upgrade to the D600, so again, not even a brand new phone, as that has been out for a year hasnt it.

I think you may be stuck until 12 months has elapsed from the date that you took their cash rebate. It will be treatred as an upgrade, and therefore, a further 12 month contract ensues from that point. If in doubt, ring them up, you may be lucky but they usually only offer good deals to people who threaten to leave who are free to do so.0

Agree with carly, you can ask/haggle in september one month before your contract runs out.0 -
thanks for the advice.
i was thinking maybe they would just lower the price on me buying the handset. £70 is a little steep IMO.
if they said £30, i would buy it.
i am trying to save money after all...
edit...
no go, they cant offer me a new handset when not at upgrade time, so september for me.
and they wouldnt even agree to sell one at a knock down price foran existing online customer.
so, i could cancel my contract altogehter, providing the charge isnt alot, then sign up again as newby, get the phone i want with a new tarriff. just would mean a new mobile number then.0
