PPS if you have a big deposit and could buy but don't want to.
Please be truthfully answer yes but then explain you do not believe they are affordable and why you are waiting out (EG further to fall)0 -
no, because (thanks to chuckys regional link) average wages are 20k (thats mean btw- 17k median), and house price averages 210k
but to be fair there are some ok places around now for about 140-50k, so loads better than it used to beWe cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

Difficult to say in my area! The house prices at the bottom of the ladder have reduced appreciably and there are some very nice properties available in that at what appear quite sensible prices compared to recent years. Still a bit on the high side comparing them to the pitiful wages in this area though:D
However, the next sector of the market has not been willing to accept that house prices have dropped and many are still on that have been for as much as 3 years without dropping a single penny on their price:rolleyes:
I think the "ridiculous" end of the market has come down a little: but this one is always difficult to judge as they are so individual."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
LOL so "can you afford a house" is what your asking?
Should get you a few more yes votes for "are houses affordable" I'lll grant you!0 -

Thanks,
But this is not how you feel it is whether you personaly could afford to purchase a house.:)
That does not mean that you may not feel they are unafordable for other reasons, just if you could personaly buy.0 -

In that case, yes I could buy - but worse off than a couple of years ago as I have accepted that the value of my home has come down and the next step up the ladder have not. Particularly sad when you realise that the housing stock is often not actually in very good order - even when looking at high end prices:D
Suspect that I shall invest in a plot and build what I want for a fraction of the price of the completed article."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

If that is his trick then I would have to answer that no, in this area and comparing to wages then I would say they are still probably at least 10/15% too high:D
I could afford to buy: but then I am old and grey and have a house already paid for and an inheritance, which does not make me Mr and Mrs Average;)"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

Graham surley the ide of any poll is based on truth so if more could not afford to buy than buy prices would be un-affordable for the people who answered the poll.
This is not to say those people belive houses are affordable or un-affordable but it is representative on personal situations.
It is totaly un-leading and unbais. if you belive otherwise please point it out to me.0
