Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 1st July. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning OS chums! hi.gif

Freegan - Welcome to the board and believe me, if I could get out and about I would be there doing the same! My OH says he would be too embarrassed to unfortunately or I would send him out there to forage!
Bitsy - Big hugs honey - I think most of us have been where you are. Just hang on in there and it will get easier I promise. As for the driving.. I live about equi-distance from Plymouth and Exeter but Plymouth takes about another 10 mins to drive to what with one thing and another. I guess if you went direct from Exeter to Plymouth on the A roads it would take 45 mins ish.
Mioliere - Your labelling the plug on the freezer made me smile and reminded me of back when I was working and I bought myself some GHD straighteners which were just over £100. I used to use them in a four way adapter so asked my OH to label it so I knew which one to unplug as the other plugs were all the same colour. Anyway, he labelled them 'How much?!'..:rotfl:
Bargainbird - Frikadillen are big thick sausage burgers from Lidls. You get 5 in a packet for just under £2 and they are really filling. They were half price last week so we got two lots as I just adore them.
Rosy - Me too! Finally worked out what had changed and changed it back!
Ivy - glad you had a great holiday and sorry you are not feeling so well.
Donnygal - fingers crossed for your son
Lesley - hope your little one feels better soon

Did my tescos order yesterday which will arrive tonight. We hardly seemed to buy anything - no big joints or anything but it came to just over £100 and I can't believe how things have gone up even in the last 2 to 3 wks! It ended up taking longer than normal 'cos I kept going back through to see if we could take something else off.

My OH has given me permission to tell you that last night we had a rice/mince dish that he hadn't cooked before. He knows to eek out the mince with grated carrots and celery which he does automatically but I suggested he use a couple of oz less beef and to add a handful of oats too. Anyway, dinner is served and it looks a bit grey and gloopy but I was hoping it was meant to be that way but unfortunately it tasted a little like wallpaper paste! It turned out he left out 3 oz of beef which was fine BUT put the same amount of porridge oats in!! So basically we were eating beef and rice porridge!!:rotfl:

I hope you all manage to make something more delicious today :rotfl:.. Warm gentle (non sticky) hugs.gif to anyone who would like one!

Morning. Can't sleep very well these days. Must be too hot, or somthing.
Had agreat days fishing yesterday and managed best in the boat in our competition. Not the best in all 3 boats, so no prize for me. Still a great day and lots of good fish for the freezer.
Ling, Pollack and some nice sea bream...
Work today at 1, seems like I have been away ages... good feeling.
I hit my vacation savings target today, so well ahead of schedule. Just need to decide where to go and when. It will be Christmas and probably USA, just have to see where OH is working around that time...

    Have a good day, cheers

    Morning all

Well I am going off on holiday today for 2 weeks hence early posting, off to my brothers in Spain so can't wait for that:j:j:j

Not been posting much lately as I have been so busy at work and home - I have to try to get in front with my work before I go and then catch up when I get back as nobody else does my job when I am not there, so it has been really hectic:rolleyes:

Leaving DD at home with strict instructions re plant watering! I am really quite worried to be leaving all my beautiful healthy plants in her care, I have loads of small green tomatoes, lettuce courgettes etc all just about ready and I don't want to loose them. Don't think the spuds and all the rest will be long either! Oh well fingers crossed!

So hugs to all who need or want them, congratulations and Happy Birthday to anyone who is celebrating whilst I will be away and I will catch up with you all when I get back.

    Morning everyone.
Its a nice temp this morning. Have back door open, can hear the birds singing and all is quiet. It's a good feeling.
Made some breadsticks yesterday, was aiming more for the grissini type but these ended up more like very thin mini baguettes. DD turned her nose up (and she was the reason I made them) but me and H and my mum scoffed the lot they were soooooo delish. Will definately have a go at making some more.
Usual OS jobs to do today, finished ironing last night, got to put one load on in WM. I am at a friends house around midday so will be good to catch up with her.
I think it should be vegetable chilli tonight so I am off to chop some veggies and stick it all in SC. Been a bit slack in meal planning area. I haven't been looking at it the night before so not prepared in the morning etc.

MSD - :rotfl: @ your OH labelling plug "how much?!"
N9eav - whereabouts in USA do you fancy going? Need someone to carry your bags ;)
nic1lou2 - enjoy your hols in Spain. Hope you have a lovely time :D

Have a good day everyone OS or not.

    Morning Everyone

Have a great holiday Nic1lou2 - am very jealous!

MSD - hmmnn sounds lovely......(not) :rotfl:

Yesterday the weather was stunning, we were lucky and had a nice breeze so it wasnt unbearable. Think today and tomorrow are meant to be hotter  might see if the kids want to go down the beach after school today.

Menuplan has been completely changed this week as its been too hot to eat what was on there. Might cook spag bol tonight though.

More filing for today urgh but hope to get it all done.

Not too much OS at the moment - housework is being ignored.

    Have a lovely day.

    Good morning to all.

Quick post on here before taking DD3 to hospital for her surgery, she is having the pins taken out that they put in when she broke her arm 4 weeks ago ish. She is a bit tearful - a born worrier, can't imagine where she gets it from :rotfl:

Did mega shop last night and spent £130 so I know what you mean MSD that is a fortune.

    Morning all,

Hot hot hot here again, hottest yet apparantly. OH has woken with stomach cramps and so is having a day off, so I will shove a wash in in a while, and ask him to hoover through ;)

I am off to work, and its hot in our office , still needs must. Fish pie for tea tonight, which is made and in the freezer, and the veg is done and been blanched, just need to steam it for a couple of mins. Mind you it might be a bit hot for fish pie, but it needed eating.

Rubbish and recycling are out already, and I will swipe round before I go to work.

Diva, I tried the oats in the mince thing too _pale_ I hated it, very gloopy, never again, I just stick to lentils now :D

Nic, enjoy your holiday, have a great time xx

Have good days all, keep yourself safe xx

Hermoine, good luck for dd at the hospital xx

Morning Chums well today i see my surgeon at the hospital this afternoon for my first years check up and then hopefully I will be told that I have passed my first years remission.fingers crossed I shall also have the results of my mammogram taken last month
Its been a strange week as I have been rushing about as my youngest DD has been quite poorly. At first her Dr said it was a kidney infection then by Monday lunchtime I was really worried about her as her breathing became very laboured and she couldn't even keep a sip of water down so my son-in-law and I took her to A&E where after lots of tests and a very bright doctor said its not her kidneys she has a infected gallbladder. At first there was a discussion as to whether she should be kept in and have it removed but then they decided as I was available along with sos-in-law she could go home but she is on very strong antibiotics plus an anti sickness drug.Poor lass has not eaten for a week and seems to be surviving on rich tea biscuitss and iced water. So I have been with her daily .Her eldest DD is in the Dominican replublic on holiday with her Dad so Simon and I are taking care of the other four boys.I am hoping that she will be well enough to get back up to her Drs tomorrow so she can be reffered for a scan.Apparently her Dr. has to refer her ,then they will be able to see how bad it is .She is in quite a bit of pain and is very uncomfortable. She said she though her tummy aches and pains were just indegestion over the past few months but it seems it was something altogether different.Still its taken my mind off this afternoon at least. Apart from thet the heat is a bit too much for me I like it at around 20c and anything more is too exhausting.Today its supposed to get up to about 32c so I will not stray too far from a fan.Well time to get a move on as I have the school run to do and then back to my DDs to try and tempt her into having maybe a bit of toast or something.Fingers crossed for 16.20.p.m. this afternoon
Cheers Chums have a good day
