Tell us more about this campsite..............is it just a field or has it got electric and showers (not together obviously ...............)

perhaps a frugal rally should be arranged? swaps galore and tea and cakes!!

ps bails just noticed your sig you look like you will make your target ...well done

Thanks Shaz, I think I may just do it :T especially as OH hasn't mentioned the car boot profit so that may just slip in the Dream Pot too;) I don't often look at regular's sigs but weirdly I looked at yours this morning too and noticed you're almost at the stone mark - congratulations! :T

Ooh, ooh, how did I forget to mention this before?! OH was at a friend's art sale this weekend and got chatting to a woman who was interested in offering him a job when we get back...project managing eco builds, including cob houses! :j I jokingly suggested that he could bring home any excess building materials that weren't needed and he said 'What, mud?' :rotfl: Sounds like it could have real potential for him, especially as he wouldn't have to be in an office all the time (which literally sucks the life out of him before your eyes), the only down side might be that he'd be away from home a lot possibly? Anyhoo, something to bear in mind for the future...

Done a few of things on my list but many more to do so off I go.

I will do it this week ....................i think getting fed up now though

Great news about the job my dream house would be an almost underground eco home like the ones at Hockerton

Hi guys, just a quick reply as dinner's on - the campsite is a tiny CC registered one with hook up, water supply and waste disposal for maximum of 5 caravans. PM or email me if you want the link, owner also lets out a 3-bed cottage on the farm. I have no connections with them other than being a member of our local LETS, but don't want to add the link in case it's seen as advertising and I get smacky fingers. :o There are a few others about as we're on the edge of a large, well known forest that attracts loads of visitors, so no shortage of space about here. :rotfl:

  • Hello All

Havent posted in a while ... again, been so busy. DH is STILL working on the same building site but is meant to finish at the end of this week. Has got a few little jobs to go to.

I have been very bad at keeping receipts but I know that I have spent more than I have budgeted for on food shopping, so I really must stop now! :o My motivation is thinking about staying at home with Daisy, who is growing very quickly, she was weighed today and she was 17 1b 15.5 oz. She's wearing 9-12 month vests and they're getting abit snug :o She's bigger than all the other babies at baby club and at swimming!

I think things are going to be okay now, just trying to stay positive. Met a lady at the doctors earlier who wants a new kitchen, so DH is going to price it on Friday. Also managed to get DH's website on the first page on g0*g1e (with someones help on another forum) and didnt have to pay a bean:D , still flogging Phoenix trading products, when my ziplock bags have arrived me & Daisy are going brochure dropping ;)

    Hope everyones ok xx

 That's the one! Galloway Forest, largest forest park in Britain and a brilliant place for frugal (and not so frugal :D) fun and adventure, home of the 7stanes bike trails and the UK's allegedly secret SAS run boot camp known only as THE CAMP. But I didn't tell you that. :rotfl:

Hi Loopy, nice to see you popping in and to hear that things are doing alright, even if you are a bit over budget on the groceries and all your receipts are stuffed in a shoebox or nappysack. :D Baby Daisy is obviously thriving.

Well done to Shaz on the weight loss and Bails on the savings pot! :T:T I think everyone on here is doing incredibly well even if any of you think you aren't. The fact people post on here shows that they have what it takes to be in charge of their own financial destiny and that makes everything worthwhile. A 2010 Frugathering sounds great to me, that'll give me time to grow more spuds to feed this frugal, debt-busting army that's been amassed her over the past couple of years. :rotfl:

    Hello :)

SL, hope Newcastle trip went well. I managed to find a recipe for peapod wine and it is just the pods that get used, so I need to save up quite a few more before getting that on the go. Looks like an end of the year job to me, as they recommend the wine's bottled for a year before drinking. Dying to try the bottle that's here, think it might get opened this weekend if new neighbour fancies a wee tipple. :D

Nothing much to report here. I shelled all the peas I have already picked and got them blanched & frozen and have done a bit of tidying about the garden in preferation for the arrival of the new compost bin. The recycled one here is almost full already. HS has been allocated the job of composting. :)

Yesterday's bean pate recipe got adapted, as I had asparagus needing used and nobody here would eat it! So it got blitzed with the beans and seasoned with paprika, everyone is eating the spread and nobody knows it's asparagus. :rotfl: Vegan, frugal and packed full of vitamins. If anyone else took advantage of the App F00ds tins offers (beans & asparagus) then this is a really cheap and cheerful pate, although it's more of a spread that could be diluted to a dip.

More pea picking today, I think, and I'm really, really tempted to pick the cauliflower before anything else starts nibbling at it. Loads of spinach beet needing picked. I planted it for the guinea pig and hens but DGD has decided that she loves it, so it'll also be getting used for our meals now, too. There are also a few beetroots beginning to look like they could be worth harvesting. If they are, then I'll be boiling them, pickling them and might even try some beetroot chutney. The hens certainly devoured all the wheat I grew in the tubs, must plant more as soon as the feed order gets delivered.

Hope everyone has a good and frugal day. :)

Been re organising pantry last couple days

my lovely hubby fitted some big shelves last night after i had painted the cupboard (3 coats)yesterday

I have been moving stuff to new homes this morning ................crikey i hope we never have to move in a hurry

The total cost of remodelling .....£0 all the bits of wood etc were in the shed and the paint was left from one of the kids rooms my jar collection has been utilised to its full potential and almost 3 kitchen cupboards have been cleared

Will post pics once finished as i need a giant spice rack building before i am really finished for all the spices and condiments etc

The best thing i have found is my MIL buys fat balls for the birds( in tubs of 50 a week) i have cleaned them out and sterilised them and they now contain pasta, rice, flour (chappati) and sugar ....and best bit is they can be stacked on the floor out of the way

I have been using chappati flour for a while now in bread it works fine but you need a little more yeast , it makes a nice light wholmeal i have decided to nly use this flour for everything and add baking powder for self raising recipes the flour comes in a big sack i think it's 10kg and costs me £5 so will save money and storage space

    Better get back to it
