    Thanks SM,

I'll get them in the freezer later, they are in the fridge now. I think that I'll end up with quite a lot of them, that's just the tip of the iceberg that I've picked. I'll start looking every day to see how they are doing. xx

Hi guys, glad to see you all doing well. Nothing to report, continuing all my usual money savings and keeping my spends low. Still doing well within the challenge and trying to save where i have which has helped with the savings account.

I wish I lived somewhere less touristy, DH actually had to reverse someones car for them yesterday becasue they couldn't reverse because they didn't need to on the roads where they lived :mad:

And where in the world did they take their test??? When I learned to drive and when I took my test reversing was mandatory and as far as I know that hasn't changed.

Deliberately left the computer off today because I had loads to do sorting the house out and getting things put back in their place after Aussie friends visit. It will take a few more days yet.
TTdb using the canner is as easy as using a pressure cooker and i have found it a little bit less noisy.
SM/Shaz I have just put in some more green beans, carrots (from the allotment this time) and a kind of ratataouille with onion, courgette and tomatoes also from the garden. I want to make as much as possible in jars. I am planning to do some of the meatballs we got from mr t at the weekend in a sauce. My kids don't like the ones that come in tins and I have a feeling they are made with "recovered" meat anyway.
We were invited to tea at dd2's tonight so we got back late, nice not to have to cook though.
We dug up some of the onions today so I will make some french onion soup to can tomorrow.

Having one of my insomniac nights, been trying to get asleep since 2am but have given up now and made a start on today:rolleyes::rolleyes:, the good thing about having anOH who works nights is you can hoover at 4am and nobody bothers:rotfl:

I'm cooking beetroots harvested (as DD likes to say, we don't pick, we harvest, bless her) from our garden - they smell divine, we lurve beetroots, especially sliced on a homemade pizza. I dare you to try it, it sounds repulsive but oh so delicious (if you like beetroot!!)

Once cooled, I'm going to put them in the freezer. Yum yum!

SM - fancy coming and doing my hoovering? I wouldn't mind what time you did it :)

    Good morning fellow frugalites :)

Can you believe that we have only 20 weeks remaining of year 2009? How quickly this year has flown and how slowly my kindling and cone box is filling! MUST try harder.

Last night we were all up watching the meteor shower. Seeing the stars so clearly without the hindrance of light pollution is something we hardly stop to think about, but I appreciate how lucky we are to live somewhere like this. The skies above here are renowned, Galloway and Astronomy go hand in hand about these parts, with some holidaymakers visiting purely for the spectacle that occurs overhead. And it's all free. People should look up more, there's so much to see. :)

Watched all of the programme last night and I think I would prefer to see a programme made following the day to day cookathons that are our very own Weezl. It would make far more interesting viewing, IMHO. How about it Weezl? :D

SM - no shortage of jars, I'm stockpiling them in the garage because I've run out of space in the house :D
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.

Just flying through to let you all know I'm here and reading..... albeit a quick scan first thing in the morning and 6pm onwards.

Have had a busy couple of days, and set to continue today and the weekend. DD decided she wants her living/dining room decorating (has been lining paper with magnolia paint since she moved in 4.5 years ago), so I've been painting and papering. Have the chimney breast to do today, and then I've got the gloss work to do Friday/Saturday! Would normally have done the gloss first, but it's finding time without young girls around - and DD and GDs are going to my parents from early Fri afternoon for 48 hours.

I've also got to teach myself how to lay a (click 'n' lock) laminate floor! DD's neighbour is moving out so had to lift his (else council lift it and charge you for doing so). He was giving it away, and was going to ask at his work - but anyone who wanted it was going to have to collect it, and he expected them to want him to take it to work....... so I snaffled it for DD ;)

May take a bit of fiddling though, as it came out of his two bedrooms - but the combined floor area of those is more than DD's through room, so should hopefully be enough to complete the job

I know its scary isn't it:eek::eek: It is mostly single track lanes round here (with grass growing up the middle), which seems to scare a lot of drivers who aren't used to them.

Off camping in a bit, car all packed and ready to go. It should be a low spend couple of days as campsite is a friends farm and there are lots of lovely walks and rivers for swimming in to keep the boys entertained.

OOh yes thats another thing I want to bottle because we prefer them just boiled instead of pickled. not sure how it would go down on a pizza though. I like them on top of cheese and crackers and I like them grated raw and served with mashed potatoes.
