Dell computers

Options
I am thinking of getting a new computer and keep seeing the Dell one advertised, the price seems almost too cheap to be any good.Is there anyone on here that has bought one and would you reccomend them.I know the printers can be expensive for refills but I have a new printer that I could use anyway so I'm not bothered about that I have a packard bell at the moment and although it's working O.K. I could do with something that I would have more things on.At the moment I can only save stuff on a floppy disc and not a cd . I have had this one for three years and it need upgrading a bit

I have a dell, loads of people I know have Dells. We have never had a problem with any of them. I would say that there is not a lot of other computers that you can for that price that are any better.

I would say just keep an eye on the prices because they do go up and down a lot. Make sure you get a special deal with VAT and Delivery included!!!!

My dad has bought a laptop from them a year ago, and has never had a single problem. Same with OH uncle, he bought a PC about 9 months ago....no problems.

Just as a thought...schools, collages, uni's, MoD and many Police forces use dell systems ... they must be doing something right!!!

Bought a laptop off them in the recent deal. No problem with it at all. Bought a desktop for my parents 6 months ago. No problems at all. Has very efficient cooling system that almost runs silently.

You'll find many people around here have bought systems from them due to their excellent pricing (after all this is MSE). There are always people who will say there is something better out there, which is probably true, however, as far as value for money goes I don't think you can do much better.

    Hi
Got a Dell 5150, absolutely fine, had it about 6mths now, very quiet sometimes I don't even know its on.
The 1100 & 3100 are cheaper and are fine if you just want to browse the internet/writing documents etc.
The 5150,9150 are better for gaming as they have a dedicated graphics card slot, so they are a dearer.
So its all depends on your budget and what you want it for.
Have a look here for their Hot Offers

    Hope this helps

I too have a Dell Dimension 5150 and can not fault it. I have had it for about four months and would, on my experience at least, recommend Dell computers to anyone.

Floppy drives are not fitted as standard anymore, if you need one you have to specify it.

It maybe worth your while visiting these forums here for the best deals on Dell computers as they tend to get them first. They also offer if you ask to advise you on which system is the best for your needs\budget etc.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

All of which makes it seem a real shame that they're sueing Paul Dell.
