New TV is analogue only!

Yup, that's the tv, though I don't think she ordered it from them.
She is actually very technically minded, but I guess in this case she missed something pretty key or they didn't make it clear. Either way, the end result is the same and you end up in a he said, she said situation.
I think this is going to get chalked up to one of life's little learning experiences unfortunately.
Thanks to everyone for their opinions. Not necessarily what I was hoping to hear but useful nonetheless. I know it isn't a mistake I'll make when my tv needs replacing (and since the picture has started going intermittently, that day probably isn't far off)
Cheers all0 -

If I were spending £2,500 on a TV (or even a fifth of that), I think I would want to see the picture for myself. I might buy it online but I would want to see one in the flesh before ordering. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Oh she did see it before ordering, but they told her that they didn't have a signal where they were so played a DVD I believe.0

Only 1080i as well!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
If you were to discover that the on/off switch was only working intermittently then you would have a right to reject a faulty tv and get a full refund.
However the supplier would have the right to repair or replace with the same model.
...and at £2500 for a £250 telly with mirrored coating and a picture frame, I know what I would do if I sold you one!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

No. Not if the goods supplied were not fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. Under the SOG, the customer is entitled to a full refund. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

The OP posted on 30th June, saying , "where my mate was telling me that she took delivery of her new lcd HD ready TV".
It is now the 5th July, under DSR's they have 7 WORKING days, beginning the day after delivery to return the TV without reason.
If delivery was on 30th June they have until 9th July to inform in writing, (e-mail is acceptable), that they wish to return the TV, depending on T&Cs they may have to pay for the return P&P, if this was not stipulated prior to delivery they will not have to pay the return P&P.
So if not happy, return it for a full refund which will include ALL monies paid including original P&P.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
