Its a problem with your bank funding then. Mine went like that as I had recently changed mine. Have you done anything to yours? You could pay by echeque the sellers have to accept them0

No, I haven't changed anything on either my paypal account or my bank account. This is the first time I've ever had to pay by echeque in over 200 purchases on ebay, which is why I'm so confused. There's enough money in my account to pay for the bag 10 times over? So its not lack of funds or anything. The seller told me yest she is going on holiday (she said "soon", didn't specify when) for 3 weeks & needs the payment before she goes, so I'm !!!!!!ed then because I'll have paid, then I'll have to wait for her to come back from holiday to post it (2nd class) its a nice bag, but it isn't worth all this bother! lol I'll just have to say it's going to have to be an echeque (which neither of us will be happy about) an I'll just have to wait.
Thanks guys.

I don't have a credit or debit card or I would have just paid that way and not worried about it. I've paid for another item since I won this & paid by transfer as per, so surely it can't be my account?
I'll try calling paypal tomorrow to see what they say. I've got 2 payment requests on my account now though, 1 from the seller and one from her dad. What'll happen there?
As your paypal account is not backed up with a valid credit card (or possibly a debit card, I'm not sure), then you cannot make an instant payment unless you have cleared funds available in your paypal account equal or greater to the amount you wish to send.
Payment will be by echeque.
The receiver will see the payment immediately, but the funds won't clear for 9 working days (sometimes longer!). This is because paypal wont clear the funds until they are sure they have your money from your bank account.
The credit card backup allows instant payment because if the bank collection fails, paypal will bill the credit card.
It's a problem with your account, not that of the receivers. The only way to overcome it is either ensure you have sufficient cleared funds in your paypal account or add a suitable card backup (which you don't have)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... I've been using my PP account since Feb 07, backed up with my pre-pay card (which is still in date) & have always paid by transfer, so why would it just stop now? I'm very confused! lol
I only have an atm card so I can't back it up with anything else. I once tried to add my brothers switch card as we both use my account (he's always buying stuff through my ebay account & we just thought it would be easier to add his card & switch to that payment method when he wanted something - he doesn't have net access so can't be bothered to set up his own ebay & pp........) obviously because it was a different name & address it wouldn't let me do it. I've asked on an ebay forum & they've said that as the seller has asked me to pay through her dads account, and its not properly linked to the sale, I'll have no protection & ebay will count it as a sale off ebay, so i'm knackered if something goes wrong. I've sent her an email offering again to pay by echeque & explaining all the info I've been given so I'll just have to wait for her response now. Thanks to all who've contributed to this thread.xxx
