My dell laptop is currently 8 years old and still going strong, so I disagree with the post that macs outlast PCs.
As far as choice goes technically there is very little difference between Macs nd PCs, so your choice comes down to 2 factors really. Budget, you are still paying a premium for apples 'looks' so the PC will be cheaper and Security, Apple computers are more secure, but as they pick up more share of the market virus writers and other ner'dowells will start to target Macs and their undiscovered flaws.
IMO go with the windows machine

First, you decide the Operating System and software that you want to use. For whatever reason(s).
Then, you buy the hardware that best suits the way you want to run it, from a reputable company.
The rest is just an endless and pointless debate about other people's own personal preferences.
Remember that, if and when it's ever necessary, a Mac can run Windows natively as well as Mac OS X - even simultaneously, if required.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.
