NO - cats need more protene in their diet and tinned cat food provides this. Of course dogs LOVE cat food but they don't know that it's too high in protene for them (!!). Anyway, dog's food is cheaper!!!!0

you can feed cat food to dogs without incurring any ill effects - just wouldn't be the best idea if that was all he/she ate every day of their life as the nutirition is, not surprisingly, aimed at cats not dogs doh!! sorry to state the obvious.
my pooch is addicted to cat food and much prefers it to dog food just because well - the cat's getting it so he wants it too. to the point that he won't eat his food unless it has a teaspoon or two of cat food on it!
also if I ever run out of food for one or the other I often swap them around, with no complaints from them or ill effects. This applies to dry and wet food.
should perhaps say that i have kept pets for a hundred years and was once a vet. nurse so I do know a bit of which I speak!!Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)0 -

Why do you wish to feed your dog with cat food? Do you have a large stockpile or something or does your dog not like dog food?
Cat food is generally more expensive so I guess that cannot be the reason.
I do recall reading that dogs can be fed on cat food (at a pinch) but that cats MUST NOT be fed on dog food.
If you have a large stockpile of cat food, I suppose you could alternate between cat and dog food.
I would suggest that you check with your local vet or veterinary nurse. to make sure.0 -
