Hi All,

My 5 year old car battery is on its way out so I am looking for a replacement. I was hoping just to get the same one that I already have but my local motorfactor doesn't sell it any more as its quite old. So I was wondering if anyone can recommend any alternative brands? Its for my MK1 02 reg ford focus. I have attached a pic of the existing battery if it helps.

Cheers :money:

I wouldn't want another battery that only lasts 5 years, my Daughters Mazda 323 is over 9 years old, same battery from new.;)

See if you can find any Japanese Batteries, they always last for ages.

Check out ebay. I got a battery from there, it was a lot cheaper than halfords with the same ratings. Get one that is suitable for your car ie rating and size, although a higher rating will give the car more starting power for the winter. The high quality type battery will be better but it will depend on your budget and maybe also how long you plan to keep the car for.

Generally go for the cheapest battery you can find, but with the longest guarantee and you wont go far wrong, providing you don't loose your receipt
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.

The only place that will sell this make of battery is a Ford Dealer.

However, any motor factor will sell you a battery that will be suitable for your car.

Try here http://www.tayna.co.uk/fitments/3/Car-Fitment-Guide.html by entering your car make/model. If it's not listed then I'm sure they will help by 'phone, e-mail.
Failing that, at least there's a good fitting guide!

TBH, five years is reasonable life for a car battery, unless it is one of those really expensive gel items that should last longer. Getting 7-10 years out of one is not unknown, but IME is more luck than design.

Unless you are going down the gel route, I would agree that a suitable cheap pattern lead acid battery is often as good as an expensive branded one, so don't go over the score and the price difference often means you could have several changes of cheap battery with a cumulative life that is much longer than any expensive one for the same cost.

Also, when you replace it, get yourself a suitable charger and don't neglect the new cell - It will last longer in better condition. There is a good thread on battery care here if you search. :)
