My Toshiba Vista Home P. does exactly the same so I get round it by selecting Hibernate instead of Sleep - works just as well but keeps the wireless connection live.

Did a quick test by changing the command in my shortcut to:
    rundll32 powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Hibernate

...slept the computer using the shortcut & then resumed it... WiFi is fine. Will now give it a longer term test, cheers!

We get this at work with a lot of Dell laptops and Desktops. They released a new driver for the network adaptor. What was happening was only under Vista, when it goes to sleep, it wasn't waking up again. It didn't afect hibernation though. It's well worth checking the manufacturers website for updated drivers as that fixed the problems for us (on over 1500 PC's in total!) but then again, it's up to the manufacturer to release the drivers.

I have seen laptops get confused when coming out of sleep mode if the IP address lease time has expired during the sleep period. Increasing the DHCP lease time (usually on the router) can help.

Well even with the Hibernate command, what I have found is that if I resume after a short sleep it's fine, if after a long period it fails and nothing can be done to reconnect it. The WiFi PCI card is a D-Link.
