FWIW, a few days ago I received a letter offering 0% BT till January 2010 2.98% fee on my Virgin card. Bit useless since it's already maxed out on the original offer, which doesn't expire till May 2010, but there you go.0

Sparkey1, would be interested to see how you get on when you call today as I recently started a thread like this and the consensus was that they seem to be tightening up on offers... Good luck! I've had a nil balance for 2 statements after a 4.9% for 9 months expired, and nothing new to offer so far even though I've called 3 times!0

I've just been offered 1% on BT til November, 3% fee. Not particularly impressive really but better than nothing. Will be trying another card first though.0

Ok, so they are still doing some deals. Just not too many. Ill check my statement date, and try the day after. Ill let you know in a day or so.0

Rang Virgin to see what offers or deals I could get on my Virgin Card. Now bear in mind I am in solid employment, with no late payments, a decent credit limit, and a zero balance heres the response I got.
I'm in exactly the same position, except that I haven't actually used the card in about twelve months - they wrote to me to tell me they were closing the account!
So, yes they definitely are tightening up.0 -
Just wondering - is it common practice for card companies to refer people through to retentions/loyalty? I've contacted 3 card companies about balance transfers and all have, without any hint of me threatening to leave or whatever, offered to put me through to these departments. Please don't pm me asking to eat me because you are hungry.

I got offered 2.9% on balance transfers last week but then called back this morning and was told they could not offer me anything and to try again in a few months. I spoke to the retentions department and said i would leave and they said fine. I have 4k left on my card and have never missed a payment. :mad:0

just been offered 0% on purchases over £250 made in July and Aug until April 2010. Seems a great deal to me - they did the same last year, but until August 09.
The rate is 2.9% on purchases under £250 until Feb 10.
This is with a standard MBNA card, not Virgin,0 -

Balance Transfer Deals = None
Balance Transfer Fees = No deals. Offered at 5 %
Any APR reductions = No. The 18.9 % is the best rate for that account. (Even though standard rate is 16.9%)
So either its me, or they are tightening up. Has anyone been offered any deals in the last week?
Thanks
Logged into my account have about 9 promotional offers open to me.0
