Travel insuranc-- medical care is very expensive, make sure you tell your insurance company all problems.. know a woman who had an heart attack in Canada and the insurance company refused payment because she failed to tell them about her pain in her toes!!!!

Thanks for the info. I am going in August but I am staying in disney near Epcot. Do these buses run from disney resort to Universal and other Locations not covered by the disney bus service?

We went to Orlando, Florida in 2007. We didn't use the car we could have had. Instead we used the bus service. They look like little trams. They are $1 a ride, or you can pay something like $16 dollars for 14 days unlimited use. They also did tickets for 7 days unlimited use. But, as we were there for 2 weeks it was ideal. We stayed on international drive, the stops are every couple of hundred yards or so and it is a very easy service to use. The drivers were very friendly too! Told us what buses to catch to get to Disney, and stops at Seaworld.
This saved us an extortionate insurance payments once we got there.

I would recommend anyone staying on international drive to use this service!

we always book everything from the flights to the accommodation ourselves, scouring all the comparision sites for flights and cars and checking on ebay for villas. last year we had 3 week holiday in a four bedroom villa, 4 people and 2 cars, flights with virgin for £650 each. book the flights as late as you can and check daily as the prices can change significantly and try to be flexible with the dates. for instance at the min you can have a flight to orlando on the 14th sept for 527, yet in you fly 3 days later you can get it for 407
Hi, we found that booking flights with US Airways to Orlando, via Philadelphia, was much cheaper than Virgin! OK it adds about an extra 3 or 4 hours to the flight each way, but it saved me £ hundreds! We were also flying on to another US city and managed to book the whole thing via Opodo.....

if your staying on international drive you must go to dairy queen (near wet n wild)on a tuesday . they do the most delicious banana split/boat for just one dollar. they would cost best part of a fiver in the uk . mouths watering just thinking about them ...
  • For those that have not arranged car hire/insurance in advance; I found it easy to put off the commission driven service staff from Alamo etc by stating " I only want the minimum insurance that makes it legal for me to drive here in Florida"
I went last year for a short break on a cheap deal with flights from heathrow changing in DC but on arrival we found the hotel to be quite dank and so went to the tourist information office on I drive. They have a list of available rooms from the major players. We got into a Marritt across the road from the Tourist office for $60 a day instead of the advertised $100. I received a refund from Expedia for £128 after informing them of the poor quality hotel they put us in originally.

Use Google earth beore you go, study the road maps, this will save you on hiring a sat nav if you want to save a few bucks.
  • We always book through Charter Travel, Tel 01635 551011 as they do fantastic rates on car hire and flights. Their website is .co.uk

Cheap places to eat (all-you-can-eat) are Ponderosa and Golden Corral - and you can use the vouchers to be found in supermarket entrances to get discounts at these places and many others.:j

If you pass through toll booths in your hire car while heading from the airport, ask for a map and, if they still have a supply, they will give you one for FREE!!!

Another good tip when you're at the theme parks: if you want to quench your thirst while buying your lunch, ask for water (not bottled) and they will provide you with this for free. Ask for it with ice and you can do a top up with your cup later at the nearest water fountain.
