If you are self catering in Playa del Ingles the supermarkets in the resort are extremely expensive, however if you walk north along Avenida de Tirjiana to San Fernando(about five to ten minutes walk) all the major supermarkets can be found at "spanish prices". Everyone who lives or works in the resort shops there and it is considerably cheaper to stock up there , rather than be ripped off.
Just cross the roundabout at the end of Avenida de Tirjiana and you are in Real Spain for bargain basement food and shopping. Remember its only minutes to walk and you will SAVE A FORTUNE!!!!!0 -
If you have a couple of hours to spare and can handle the pressure selling of the reps then when you win the 'star prize' on a scratch card and the reps want to take you for a presentation ask them to pay you for it, they can get up to 200 euros just for getting a couple into the presentation so they can afford to shell out 50 euros to you and if they dont, walk away.
last year we met up with a great couple of reps just trying to make some money to stay on the island so we came to a deal, we went on one presentation a day for 6 days, we got 50 euros per trip so made 300 euros, most of our spending money and they got a day off at the end as they had made so much money from us, if they are out there again this year we are going to meet up and do the same thing again.0 -

Don't get ripped off by reps if you are in staying in Playa de Las Americas, you don't need to get a cab just walk up past Palm Beach Club and its five minutes over a bridge by the main road. We heard one couple being told by a rep it was 10 euro in a cab!
And also NEVER go all inclusive to tenerife as breakfast is 3euro a pint can be as low as 1.50 and a three course dinner for 10Euro its cheaper to eat out.
For Sunday dinner or any other day I would recomend The Bistro in Los Cristianos for the roast dinner @7€. The yorkshire puddings with any roast are hudge, meat and veg all fresh and not frozen.Friendly staff. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
Rodero. A grill restaurant near Playa de las Americas. 17 Euros per head but a HUGE veg/salad buffet and all the grilled meat you can handle. And the selection is very good. If you save up your appetite before going, it's great value.:idea:0

My BF has an ingenious, if somewhat unscrupulous scheme, of avoiding ridiculous drink prices in Gran Canaria and in Ibiza.
He has a pair of funky, army-style trousers which have a million and one pockets. We pre-fill several small vodka bottles, like the one's you get on the plane trip over, with vodka from a cheap bottle bought at the local supermarket and hide a few in each of the pockets.
Then when we're out, we only ever pay the price of a diet fizzy drink (which comes with a glass) take a few healthy sips to make room and then top up the rest from our secret stash.
I would usually think this was probably going a bit far - but with drinks in Ibiza anwhere up to £10 for a beer, I think we're well justified!0
