I set up a DD and the money is due to be collected on 22nd July.
I assume that is the actual date the money will be taken but with a DD does the money have to be sitting in the account any number of days PRIOR to that date?

    Hi

I have just applied for this too. I have given the details of my bank account so that they can set up the direct debit, given them the amount I'd like to deposit into the account... but, forgive my ignorance, how do you find out when the DD money is due for collection as there is no mention in the confirmation email from Newcastle?

    Thanks

It was on your application completion printout and will be on the DD confirmation that you should receive in a couple of days.

    As posted in other thread.

See also MSE Dan's and Newcastle BS apology afterwards

I notice the updated article no longer mentions that the account is likely to be pulled today or tomorrow - has that also been corrected?

I missed the import bit in the article in my haste to post, now striked it out in my post.

The article say it IS likely to be pulled out today or tomorrow:
But those who are keen must hurry as the account in question, the Newcastle Building Society five-year bond, is likely to be pulled on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.

When I set up the DD it told me then and also that it was the earliest date it could be done.
There was a drop down box so I assume you could make the payment later.

The very final page where they thank you and tell you your application is complete it shows there and they advise you to print it.
Also shown is your application ref: number (9 digits)

Maybe it wasn't there when we first looked and when we went back it was updated. I have noticed at least 3 updates this morning, there may well have been more. They should add the last updated date to all articles which would help.

    Hi.. thanks for the reply

Well, there must be something we are doing different in the application form as I don't get any drop down box at all (I tried a mock application to check that out again!). All I get asked is how much money I would like to deposit in the very last page of the application, just before clicking Submit Application.

Yes, I get a reference number but no sign of when they would take the money out of my account! I am a bit confused with all this really.

    Hi.. thanks for that.

No sign of it in the application at all. Rang them and asked when the money would be taken out but they said there is a tick box in the application form to say you'd like them to take the first deposit. Done a mock application and haven't seen it at all. Either they've changed the application form or I am going nuts!

The "thank you" page I printed was AFTER I submitted the application.
