Hey all,
Months ago i followed a link posted here which started a search of all banks and building socities for past/dormant accounts. I have a dormant account with the Post Office and because of my find friends and colleagues want to have a try!
Unfortunately i can't find the link that started this all off
Anyone know it?
Thanks!

I followed that link and filled in as much info as I could remember.
Now Lloyds TSB have sent me a letter saying that they have an old dormant account that is mine and I need to go to my local branch with some ID and proof of address before I can have "access to the money" (their words)
My problem is that many years ago I was terrible with money so I am scared that the account might actually be massively overdrawn or something.
Does anyone know if they could chase me for money that I owe them after so long? I think the account is possibly about 20 years old.
I have no way of knowing if the account is in credit or debit untill I ID myself officially..“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

You could look at your credit report to determine if the account is in arrears or not, before you go storming in there demanding your moneyStarting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

If you do not believe me - do nothing - it probably won't be a huge amount anyway.
To answer your question if there has been no contact whatsoever between you and the bank over any debt for more than 6 years then the debt is statute barred - ie they can't chase you for it.0 -
Thanks Lee.
Where would I get to see that?
Sorry if its a dumb question..“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

Yeah I am not expecting much at all.
I was actually looking for an old Savings account I had with a building society, so the Lloyds letter is a bit of a suprise.
I have only ever had current accounts with lloyds and I cant imagine me forgetting one with any money in it.
Although I may have accidentaly "forgotton" an overdrawn account when I moved house in my youth....:o“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
