Campervan Hire Australia 2010

Hi
Am off travelling for 12 months in Oct this year, have been searching around for campervan hire for when i'm in Oz (roughly circa early Jan 2010 - end of feb 2010). The prices seem rather steep though, like £1500 for less than two months.
Has anyone any advice/experience of campervan hire in Oz that they can throw my way? Cheers.
PS just looking for a minimal comfort 2 berth(er) on a UK licence pickup Sydney, drop off Cairns.
Cheers(ky)

Have you tried looking on the forums at www.tripadvisor.co.uk or.com? I have to say though, I don't think you will get what you want for much less as Jan/Feb are peak periods in that part of the world.0 -
WE used Wicked Campers in NZ. They are an Australian company, no frills converted Toyota Previa.0
