He as not got a car yet, but he gets the quotes by going on confused.com, and putting in reg,s hes seen on ebay or autotrader or even in the street, a Peugeot 306 works out at a tad below £4000
Buy a nearly new group 1 car, loose £1000 in depreciation (or less) in a year pay £1000 insurance premium and your £2000 out of pocket on an otherwise cheap reliable (because it's young) car.... or blow £4000 in insurance for an old 306 that will probably cost a few hundred in maintenance on top.
Can you get the best of both worlds?
What happens if you get a quote for an old £1000 Nissan Micra 1.0?
What's the premium on "L944 XGE" currently for sale for £550?
Forget street cred. for a bit.0 -

The teenagers favourite Citroen Saxo 1.1 P reg. get quotes starting from £584.70 excess £500 (1st Central) and excesses are higher across the board starting at £300 with £770.84 premium (Kwik Fit)
I'm using the insurance quote finder that is part of autotrader.0 -
Just put in the micra rego and the cheapest is Quinndirect, they are coming back at £572 but thats with a provisional license the next cheapest is £2287 thats with Quotemart, dont forget he will have a full license and if you get a quote with a full license its more, as the companies look at it as you dont have an experienced driver by you. Other things affect it as well, such as hes still a student at school and also probably where we live. Thanx for trying though0

best thing to do, is wait until he's passed. Then start looking for small cars. I know he will have his heart set on something nice, but unless he wants to be seriously out of pocket he will have to wait.0 -
You thought about putting him through the pass-plus course?0

Hes looked into that but the only companies that offer any sort of discounts are the ones that seem to charge the most anyway, so with the discount they are still on par with the cheaper ones0
