Also, out of curiousity - I noticed someone said that eBay will automatically issue all these refunds regardless if the 45 days passed. I and many sold these tickets accepting the current terms and conditions when we sold them - Are they legally allowed to alter their terms and conditions (although its morally correct) as and when they please, even for old sales?

I suspect paypal will have to agree repayment plans with sellers -I'm sure there are lots of other people in a similar situation.

May be worth contacting paypal direct to see what they say.

Anyone else have any ideas on the points I raised earlier?

just seen on the news anyone who wants a refund from the ticket companies will have to return the tickets from 1st July, so you may want to get your buyer to return your tickets, there also saying that people can keep them and not have a refund and if not many people go for the that option the tickets will be very rare and therefore worth a few bob.

ASK YOUR BUYERS TO RETURN ALL THE TICKETS THEY PURCHASED FROM YOU IN ORDER THAT YOU CAN REFUND THEM (and get a refund for your self from ticket co!!)

They havent sent the tickets yet.

If it was me who had bought them I would want the full refund straight away.

If it was me who had sold tham I would have put the money to one side till after the concert as there was always the chance of these concerts not happening.

IMO if the buyer starts chasing for the money through the courts it would have a negative affect on your credit rating it may be an ides to borrow the money and pay the buyer in full

I only caught the tail end of the report but i thought they said that tickets hadn't been issued but buyers could choose to get a refund or have the tickets issued after 1st July?

The OP in this case has certainly not sent any tickets and I don't think any of the threads on here or on ebay itself relate to tickets that have already been issued.

I dont have any positive answers Im afraid, but really feel for you.
Its good that you are doing the right thing by refunding the buyer, have you spoken to them yet to explain your situation?
I think that you should call Paypal to discuss the possibility of setting up a repayment plan. You will not be the only one in this situation & if they are going to bend the rules regarding the 45 day limit then they should have something in place to help the sellers - ultimately its going to save them money in the long run with debt collectors etc.
    Good Luck

    Hi

Was hoping for some advice as we're in a bit of a pickle. I bought 4 Michael Jackson tickets for the family and we were planning on going but we've just had a child and needed the money to do his room up etc. We therefore decided to sell them on eBay in the middle of march and got £1150 for them. Unfortunately as you all know, Jacko sadly passed away. I've had an email from the Buyer of the 4 tickets as expected requesting a refund immediately. However, we've spent the money and cannot afford to pay it back straight away. The Buyer stated in his email that they paid on a Credit Card and wanted the money back asap as they were paying interest on the money. I can obviously feel for the Buyer and wish I had the money laying around to give back straight away but I don't. It's been over 60 days since the auction so does that mean the Buyer has to go through his Credit Card to get a refund? And if so, how much time does this give us to save the money up? At present, we can only afford £50 a month back so it could take a while to clear. £1150 - £330 (what we paid for them) - £80 (ebay fees that will be refunded also) = £740. If Paypal forward this to debt collectors, will they want more than £50 given our circumstances and will this have an effect on our credit rating/report?

Would appreciate any suggestions and advice.

    Thanks!

Have a look around your house and see what you can put on ebay to raise the money to repay the debt. Then sell, sell, sell!!!
Why should someone else (the buyer) have to subsidise you?

Note you won't get your ebay fees back until you've refunded the buyer anyway.

Sorry, it may not be what you want to hear, but little sympathy from me goes to ticket touts who catch a cold.

When did you buy the tickets? Are you really trying to tell us you didn't know your child was on the way at the time?
As far as I recall, the concert was not even announced until March and you sold the tickets the same month.

You need to do what you can to refund the buyer in full, ASAP. Sell stuff, or borrow the money.

As someone else mentioned, when selling tickets, it's sensible to put the money aside until after the event, in case of cancellation...

If I were the buyer, I'd want a refund in 7 days, otherwise I'd be persuing you though the small claims court, paypal, credit card etc...

The faster you pay, the less damage you can potentially do to your credit rating!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

one thing to be wary of
if ebay/PP are going to refund and you make a part refnds thne you may be chasing the buyer for money plus being chased by ebay!!!
