JSA and a couple of day's work

I'm claiming income-based JSA. I've been offered a couple of days of work - nice to have something, at least
I think I might be classed as self-employed when doing the work, though not 100% sure yet.
Am I right in thinking that any income would be deducted pound for pound from my benefits (so effectively I wouldn't get any benefits that week - the income from work would exceed the benefits I get)? Or are things more complicated..? I should be able to complete the contracted work in under 16hrs.

As long as it is under 16 hours then you shouldnt have to make a new claim. And you are right that it will be deducted pound for pound.0

Is there not a £5 disregard for JSA?0

Thanks - that's useful to know. And an extra fiver's better than a slap in the face, I guess0

The extra £5 will only be received if you earn less than £69.30. Is that likely?
That's not going to happen. Was hoping I could have a couple of beers on the DWP thereOh well, never mind...
btw, hypothetically, does that mean that if I earned £70 in a week I would be £4.30 worse off than if I earned £69.30?0 -
Depending when you sign on will depend if it breaks into 1 or two weeks.
Better to do work on the sign on day (or that day each week( and then the next day as it would split and you would get £10 disregard (2x£5)
Your week runs up to your sign on day, and starts on the next dayNothing to see here :beer:0 -
How much will it cost to travel there? If it costs more than the allowance for your bus or train it could lose you money.Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.
Illegitimi Non Carborundum!!!:cool:0
