in Water bills
Hey all,
I'm moving into a rented house which is on an unmetred water supply, and i've just tried to setup the bills etc.
Was told it will cost £45 per month, so £510 per year. I'm going to be with Anglian Water.
Does this sound right? Working it out, that would mean our Rateable Value would be about £250 for a 3-bed semi detached house in Norwich.
It just doesn't sound right that our bill will be £510 for unmetred water & sewerage etc?!
Thanks
Mark D

Your Rateable Value can be anything.
There is no right or wrong really it is whatever figure the district Valuer put on the property back in the day.
Also how many installments ? Most would try to clear the debt before the start of the new financial year so 8 would be the most I should think but most water companies would say 5 or 6 now this far into the year.
So if it were say £45 over 8 months then that would be £360
But then as it is Rateable Value it could be anything, how about applying for a meter ?There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

If you know the Rateable Value you can work out exactly the annual cost.
However the RV on a 3 bed semi could vary a great deal, it was based on the notional rent the house could command as long ago as 1973.
You may find a meter fitted regardless of you, or your landlord, wanting one fitted; the water companies can fit one on change of account holder if they wish.
Unless you have a big family, with Anglia you are likely to pay less with a meter - so just apply for one.0
