Hi folks,
We've today fully launched a new daily news service, MSEnews.com. As you'd expect, it'll be full of all the latest MoneySaving news.
You can access it via MSEnews.com, via the new ticker and tab we've placed on the MSE homepage, and via an RSS feed.
If you have a minute, please have a look at the news section and let us know if you spot about bugs or gremlins in the system.
Regards,
Guy

those two buttons look pretty
thankyou, it's useful
but me, for a moment, thought the news was a link to news like timesonline or the independent
I liked the sky blue print on the white background color scheme, it's very kind to the eyes.0 -
Is there any way of getting rid of the news ticker?
Since it was introduced, forums take much longer to load: after reading a post low down the page, I used to click the back-arrow and return to where I was. But now it returns me to the top of the page and I have to wait a few seconds every time before the page returns me to my original position. And you have to wait a bit longer again till the first part of each post is visible by hovering over the title.
I'm assuming the problem is the news ticker, as I can't see much else has changed on the forum pages.0 -
I too would like to be able to turn off the news ticker. Is there anyway I can do so?
Thanks:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I don't mind having the News Ticker as long as it doesn't impact on the functionality of the site generally.0

Hi
Thanks for the note. On the news ticker, there is no way to turn it off, its now part of the design of the site and its important the forum and the main site interlink as much as possible - that's the whole concept of MSE.
Far too often the forum is people asking questions which are answered with huge painstaking research in the main site but are missed here
Though deliberately it is only in the board main pages not in threads, as there's no point on having it on every page.
We are also going to work on improving the info in the right hand side so that's more usable too.
Biggles, as for your issue, we don't think the ticker has anything to do with it, but i have asked the techies to check

The issue I mentioned only arose today, everything seemed normal yesterday. Maybe others will comment further.
But surely the news ticker only needs to be on the main forum listing, not on each forum?0 -
I signed up for an RSS feed via the newsletter yesterday but am not sure what that is or how I get it. It's a good idea though, Martin.0
