An update to this audio problem is as follows:jaydee65 wrote:Received my set (including stand) from Comet on Tuesday. Generally very pleased with it apart from a sound problem (buzzing/feedback) when I connect my PC up to watch DVDs or HDD files on TV (using either scart or AV input). Have not had a problem previously (even with a small TV that is now over 25 years old!). Have e-mailed Philips to find out if there is a solution to this problem.
Philips replied to the e-mail the following morning by suggesting I change the cables and check the connections. This I did but to no effect.
I reported this back to Philips but then got no reply.
So I phoned Philips technical help today and they seemed to be unaware of any problem like this or what the solution might be.
I then phoned Comet and was told about a TV tuning helpline. The guy here was even surprised that it was possible to connect a PC up to a TV as a second monitor (I have been doing this without problems for 7 years!) but he did say that Philips have a unique way of switching the sound if you use the rear audio outputs for extra speakers, so maybe this is a Philips design problem.
I would take the set back if I thought a) that a replacement would not have this problem and b) Comet still have stock to supply another. But I am very pleased with the set, especially at the price, and I have a spare set of speakers that I can place by the TV and feed directly from the PC to provide my own solution to this problem, so there is probably not much point.
However, I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has linked up a PC (or games console?) to a Philips TV (NB. VCR, DVD player and video-camera all connect OK).0 -

How are you connecting your PC to the TV and what cabling are you using jaydee65?0 -

Received mine last week, it was bought as a TV for the computer room to rig my 2nd xbox up to. It is connected using RGB, and compares suprisingly well to the other setup, which is the other XBox connected to at Panasonic PD30 (one without faults) by component progressive scan.
Ive not played it much yet, but I did play a bit of Outrun2 on Kai Xlink the other night, and there were no sound problems whatsoever.
I will try and see if I have any TV leads to connect the PC to it, as its sat right next to it. Im sure ive got some somewhere, I gave that a try years ago but soon knocked it on the head when I saw the horrible low resolution !
A buzzing sound usualy indicates either an impedance problem (such as connecting headphone out to line in), or an earthing problem (in your leads).
I imagine you are connecting to the TV via SVideo and Line out from your soundcard, on a custom lead terminating in a scart socket ?
I would say have a try at posting your question on the AV forums, but I took a look for you to see if anyone else had done so, and saw that you beat me to it !0 -
Just bought one from Makro (£117.49 incl vat) - it didn't come with the stand but I didn't need one so that's OK! It's up and running and I'm very pleased with it - good picture, sound quality and appearance.0

Yes I am using an S-video lead/audio cables from the breakout box on the ATI gfx card to a Scart socket. Have tried different leads and Scart connectors. Tried both Scarts on the TV (RGB and S-VHS), plus using the Scart on the VCR (this worked with a 25 year old TV that predated Scarts, VCRs and PCs!), and also used the AV input designed for camcorders. Also took an audio feed direct from the soundcard ilo feed to PC speakers. All have produced the same background buzzing. Used the headphone socket on the TV - same result. Also altered the soundcard set-up on the PC to no effect. And then ran out of ideas!Tron_ADS wrote:A buzzing sound usualy indicates either an impedance problem (such as connecting headphone out to line in), or an earthing problem (in your leads).

Received mine this morning at a quarter to eight (I was first on the day's delivery list!)
For the money it's a great little set, just not looking forward to learning what's where on yet another remote!
(Mine came with a stand but I'm not keen on using it.)0 -
I received mine on Monday morning at 8.30am.
Comet rang Saturday to make sure of address and that someone would be home for Monday delivery. They then rang again Monday morning at 8.00am to say that it would be delivered in half an hour, and they were true to their word.
Yes, it did come with a neat stand..............Well chuffed, as it looks great and has an excellent picture.
I ordered it before I found out that it was cheaper in Makro ...C'est la vie.0 -
I need some help with my newly purchased grabbit bargain tv.This is in fact my 2nd (1st replaced by comet) philips 24" pureflat tv due to a wobbly/bendy picture problem.
Its noticeable when straight objects like lamp posts, door frames etc are on screen and really noticeable when my sky 'whats on next' info banner is selected.
Can anybody with sky digital (especially) or normal analogue post back with their results.Cheers!0 -
