i gave up and d/l media monkey.gud job i'd set a restore point cos i cudn't find winamp in add/remove.i'm sure it works 4 the majority but was no gud on this pc.the ipod is charging up @ the sec and i left him 2 play with the program.thanx 4 the help tho.

my lad's bin getting on fine with it.he's shoved a load of mp3's on2 the ipod from his music folder but hasn't d/l yet.i just let him get on with it.btw wot do u mean by tag?

To use an Ipod properly you really have to make sure the songs are tagged correctly. Having the song name and artist as the filename is not enough because Ipods look at the hidden data within the file that lists song, artist etc.

It's just a matter of making sure your old songs are named properly in the MediaMonkey library - with Song in the correct column and artist in the correct column etc.

And I assume if you import your future music onto your computer with a good program like Media Mokey, it will make sure things are automatically tagged properly anyway. Though I did have to spend time this morning renaming 30 song I imported from a compilation that just listed Artist:Various Artists - which would have made the songs hard to find when on the Ipod
