Just looking through my new Sky magazine & found a leafet "Sky Broadband now even better".
Then I find Sky are changing the Mid data cap to 10GB from 40GB.
I'm fuming!

yes, I was wondering is there a way I can check my useage so I know wether I need to change? Does also say you can cancel contract with out penalty before the change over date so I might look around anyway.0

Apparently they did this because 10gb is what most of their users actually use per month :rolleyes: If that IS the case, err, why alter it at all?
Sky are frankly ectracting the urine with such a huge drop in allowance.

Ring Sky and ask them for your usage (they will have a record of this), then decide.Call me Carmine....

Someone tried this over on Skyuser, Sky's system system does not record usage, apparently it only flags up excessive use .
Best bet is to get a freeware network monitor.
There are some links at the bottom of the page

Tv package and line rental up by £1 each. Usage on MID bb reduced to 10gb/month...what a rip off.
I switched to Tiscali about 3 weeks ago. Despite the few scare stories on mse, So far so good. Speed is the same as I was getting with Sky about 4mb, but I now have un-limited (capped at 100gb/mth) download. Free line rental and weekend calls, 12 month contract all for £14.99/month. If I had stayed with sky I would have been paying £39.50/month to get the same bb service I have now. Also I don't have to watch 'the bold and the beautiful' on bloody Diva TV no more:rotfl:0 -
I took this out 2/3 month ago. Didn't want tv but it was best package given phone (International) and broadband 40gb in my area which allowed me to retain a BT line. Now despite assurances which were expressly asked re the line being BT all this is changing and my service is going up in price and down by 75%.
I know they are giving us the chance to cancel BUT can I cancel the TV also without penalty?
I don't understand how Sky get away with such disgusting marketing knowing of the changes afoot AND with such rolling changes to contracts.
When I took this out I took out a package so can I dump their naff tv as well as the rest?0 -

Good question. I'd suspect not, unfortunately. This is why people should be wary of taking out a service that relies on you also having another (extra cost) service. Luckily, my Sky TV/BB min. contract ended ages ago so I'm cancelling the whole bloody lot (we have 2 Sky+s and a decent sized package that we just don't use enough to justify the cost. The Sky+s will be ebayed and 2 Humax freeview recorders will probably be bought to replace them). It will (sort of) be a joyous occcasion.Call me Carmine....

I know Sky probably has everything legal sorted but I can help but wonder if the changes represent more than simply a change of terms and conditions an are actually a breach of contract. Such is their scale.
Likewise legally the assumption made that unless you say otherwise you are accepting the new contract cannot be defined as a contract or indeed a confirmation. Contracts require mutal agreement of a tangible kind. I.e You have to expressely agree to something to be bound by it. By saying nothing, it isn't an agreement, you are simple not involved. So how can a contract be formed under these circumstances?
Also the promote all three, tv, phone and internet as a package, I accepted that packages I didn not enter seperatelt into three different contracts even if they try to divvy it up that way. So this must be legally suspect or at least suspect under the consumer rights act.
Such is the convoluted nature of the contracts thet they are also open to challenge.0
