Yes,
It's to cover their fee's, delivery tim for the engineer to call round etc...
Same as any insurance you pay excess, my car insurance is £1,600 a year and i have to pay £350 if i make a claim, not fair but i pay it.
It's just to cover their costs, it might not be fair but most networks will charge it the same. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0 -
it is fair, i damaged my phone the other week and i have insurance and so i phoned up and the guy said it would cost me £40 for a new phone plus admin charge, i got a phone off ebay for £50 which is exactly the sameNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

as its in warrenty it wont cost them (or you) anything to fix it anyway - tell them you will get it repaired yourself and ask for the premium back (dont spose youd get it though)0

if its under warranty and damaged is not your fault why you have to use your insurance?
if you have an orange shop or the shop where you bought it from should be sorting it out free and give a replcement phone while yours is being repaired!Honesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
Having been stung twice by Orange I don't think it's fair AT ALL.
I've had my phone replaced twice within a year due to faults developing. Once it was a battery problem and I negotiated the fee down to £7.50, the second time with a handset fault they wouldn't budge. Had intended to write to appeal against the charges but was too lazy/busy. The current handset still develops intermittent faults.
They won't allow me to upgrade cheaply without entering into an 18 month contract because my usage is not high enough, so I've changed to a cheaper direct plan and cancelled their orange "don't care" insurance this month. I intend to set money aside each month until I have enough saved to buy a sim free phone, rather than be lured into getting the latest model with no track record of reliability. I vow never to get caught in the never ending upgrade merry go round again.
It wouldn't do you any harm to complain and see if you can get the fee waived or reduced. Good luck.0 -
the insurace is fair if you brake or lose or even worse have it stolen put if it's in warranty and become faulty then no and in my experance with orange you will have a hard time getting it replace under the warranty if you have orange carethere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0

The £15 admin fee has been in place for at least 2 years - all customers had an insert in their bill with an option to cancel CARE and only be supported by the makers warranty.£15 is an admin fee, covers courier costs etc - saves you the trip to a warranty centre too.I've had my phone replaced twice within a year due to faults developing. Once it was a battery problem and I negotiated the fee down to £7.50, the second time with a handset fault they wouldn't budge.
After the 3rd you maybe entitled to a DMR (DIFFERENT MODEL REPLACEMENT) something you will only get by having Orange care.0 -
just to add a little grr..-they sent me another phone yesterday-the back was missing-rang orange they said i should have kept the back as they dont send them out,i said i wasnt told.Best they can do is send me envelope to return for repair-1 week with no phone at least-lucky i dont need it urgently-have said they wont charge me £15-watch this space,.0
