Income Support Due To Stop

Looking for some advice from somebody who's experienced this.

My Income Support is due to stop now my youngest has turned 12.

According to their website http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/stellent/groups/jcp/documents/websitecontent/dev_015981.pdf

if "Youngest child is aged 11 and becomes aged 12 on or before 6 July 2009"

then "Your Income Support will end in the week that your next Work Focused Interview is due on or after 5 July 2009"

My next WFI is due around July 17th.

However, according to the same document on the website, it says "We will contact you 8 weeks before your Income Support is due to stop to tell you when your last payment is due."

I haven't had any contact from them yet. So what I would like to know is, do I still have at least 8 weeks of payments to come, or is this typical of them to not keep to their promise?

If I only have another 3 weeks of money, I won't be happy......

Why are you not going on to JSA?

Have you contacted your local JCP to ask when your IS will be stopping?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I thought the answers I'd get on this forum would be more reliable than anything JCP could tell me.

I think I'll just sit tight and see what happens.

You need to call them and find out what is happening. We can only give general advice. They can give advice specific to your claim.

We can not second guess on here!

I am wondering how you are going to manage on no money too!

No, I'm not going on to JSA.

    I don't think its a choice.
Once you are no longer entitled to IS you are automatically switched to JSA and then you have to sign on and be actively looking for work.

  • I already have a job.

I only became eligible for IS when my ex suddenly stopped paying maintenance and as the IS was more than he paid me, it made sense to claim.

I can just about manage on my wage but I was going to contact the CSA when the IS stopped.

Do you mean that you have a job to go to once the IS is finished, or that you have a job which is below IS levels, and therefore have IS as a 'top up'?

How much do you earn, and how many hours do you work each week?
