Oooer! It's getting a bit scary in here isn't it!
I was just going to tell you about my DS 12 who has recently (at last!) started showing a (slight) interest in personal hygene. He wanted Lynx shower gel if you please, needless to say as I am the tightest Mum in town he got Tesco Value shower gel....10p a bottle!!! It's not the greatest I admit but if he uses half the bottle per shower at least it doesn't break the bank.
Now carry on children - and PLAY NICELY please!
PS. how do they stir fry veg in Africa, please? I would be very interested to know as I'm always looking for different ways to serve veg.
    Thanks,
    Daisy x

I'm so sorry lazy_daisy (and others) for my little rant back there - I hate to see Mrs Average getting the put-down. Promise to behave myself from now on :o.

Lol at your son's new-found interest in personal hygiene :rotfl: - nah you're not the tightest mum in town - I've been filling an Original Source Lime Shower Gel bottle (got a freebie from a website) with Asda SmartPrice (13p) shower gel (it's practically the same colour!) for absolutely ages :D. My OH still hasn't noticed .

Plus I buy those three bars of soap in Asda as well :rotfl:.

When they're earning, and spending their own money, THEN they can decided how much they want to pay for toiletries ;).

I have finally managed a no spend day. Yipee.
Am going to rummage in the "War" cupboard (thats what my eldest calls the store cupboard) for some pudding. As I am feeling a bit low, cheer myself up.!

hi....i hope u find something nice in your cupboard....i seem to have dust in mine....the kids are stripping them bare and it is day 1 of the holidays

we finished a casserole for lunch...it was ok...i hate that though when u feel u have to eat something for whatever reason rather than what u fancy....oh well onwards and upwards

i have a chicken out to roast tomorrow which i will use remains to make a chicken pie....would usually be and mushroom pie but dont have any so its just chicken...i might make fried rice on tuesday with it as well

im not doing formal meal plans while the kids are off as i often find we go out or get a better offer and it gets wasted so im going to go with the flow a bit and see what happens...i have a few staples in to make a meal of so that should keep us going

    take care

Thank you :D. I'm slightly kicking myself at my £20 misdermeaner though - the next week and a half will be tight! I guess it's slightly easier to do when you really have no money either, rather than trying to save money!

Well, another NSD for me today (although I came close to going out for a bacon sarnie earlier - stayed strong though!) I'm now famished so am going to attempt to eat my body weight in omlette!!!
You only graduate once in a lifetime so you deserved the celebration! I agree though it's easier to 'make do' when you're absolutely up against it and have no choice. I often used to think that the more skint we were the better we ate - this was before Grocery Challenge though ;) Hope that the body weight of omlette has filled you up!!

((hugs)) Mooloo Sorry you're feeling low. Your idea for sausage casserole has inspired me and I'm going to stretch 5 thick sausages from the butchers into a casserole next week to feed us all :T Thank you! Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow & that your cough clears up.

We went to the pictures today to see Harry Potter but it only cost me the price of the film as I'd picked up a pack of 6 microwavce popcorn for £1.50 earlier in the week :j I popped them at home and took them with us along with bottles of juice from home too. The staff searched everyones bags to check that there were no cameras in them but weren't remotely bothered by the snacks :D I'm pleased as the last time I paid for snacks at the cinema it cost more than the admission price for 5 people

    Thanks for the hugs.
Ended up eating some of the kids biscuits and crisps. Now drinking a cup of hot chocolate. Not quite as good as a bottle of chilled wine!. Ah well.
Had two free tickets for the New film The Proposal, for tomorrow morning, but I have given them to my daughter as I didnt think coughing all over people would go down very well.

PS the sausage casserole was scrummy, but I didnt eat it all, as DS said he was coming home (and then didnt), so I only had half of it. Mind you that leaves me a portion for another meal. May freeze it as it is, or possibly make a big yorkshire pudding and serve it in the middle of it.

DD is now with her Dad for the next two weeks, until we head off to Oz. Just a small spend today for instant coffee, as I am not intending to go out for the next two days – working at home on Monday, and will need coffee.

Have previously tried the value coffee & it is gross, but I like the Mr T classic rich roast, which is only 70p for 100g & for some reason is cheaper bought in the small jars!

I don’t want to buy any more fresh stuff before we go away & need to use up what I have in. Did a pasta carbonara type thing for my dinner tonight with some cheese spread, egg, bacon & crème fraiche in the fridge. There is more bacon & eggs, crème fraiche, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, apples & lemons to us up …

I have been working on a final shopping list for this month. Don’t need anything at all at the moment & probably only some milk for the rest of the month. But want to be stocked up so I don’t need to go shopping again as soon as I get back.

How long are you going away? If you can get on to the internet, you can order your shopping to be delivered, by Mr T, up to 3 weeks before you want it. So you could have it delivered the day you get back? Mr T Doesnt have a minimum order value I dont think?

Thanks Mooloo. We are away for 22 days but will have internet access, as staying with relies. Didn’t even occur to me that I could order my groceries online in Oz & have them delivered to me when I get home!
