Great tips there. The coffee shop thing is a no no. I find lots of caffeine doen't agree with me so it's just an expensive mistake really. Before you know it you've agreed to the muffin they kindly "offer" which is another expensive mistake.I like the bottled water idea.
Milk and bread thing I'm going to do that.I do a bit of downshifting. Is the Asda stuff any good?0 -
Hi,
I just saw your last post about ASDA. I'm new to shopping there (having alway been a bit of a supermarket snob), but went there this week, and have been pleasantly surprised, at the price (obviously!) but also at the quality of their SP stuff.
Some of the stuff is not so good, but I think it's just hit and miss and down to individual tastes.
HTH,

coxy (((hugs))) believe me i know how you feel , i am sick and tired of doing everything for everybody and getting absolutely no thanks whatsoever. enjoy your chocolate you deserve it
Group hugs please xxx I get fed up with "have we got this, have we got that, can I have" and doing everything else in the home.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
Sorry real daft question but what's SP? It's about a 15 min drive for me so I wonder if it might be worth a look. I tend to wander off in such places and buy clothes and things!0

Sorry - SP is Smart Price, ASDA's own brand goods. Comes in green and white packaging.
Like I say, we've always avoided ASDA as last time I was in there (years and years ago) the food seemsed to be really bad quality. I've recenty been popping in for cheap work shirts and books, and had a look at the food section too, hence we decided to try it this week.
Have a look, you never know what you might find!

Oooer! It's getting a bit scary in here isn't it!
I was just going to tell you about my DS 12 who has recently (at last!) started showing a (slight) interest in personal hygene. He wanted Lynx shower gel if you please, needless to say as I am the tightest Mum in town he got Tesco Value shower gel....10p a bottle!!! It's not the greatest I admit but if he uses half the bottle per shower at least it doesn't break the bank.
Now carry on children - and PLAY NICELY please!
PS. how do they stir fry veg in Africa, please? I would be very interested to know as I'm always looking for different ways to serve veg.
Thanks,

Mooloo, no idea about the celery (I tend to chop finely and add to any mince dish when it gets like that), but peppers I chop or slice and freeze for later use (also often added to mince dishes).Cheryl0

I find building up a good stock cupboard/freezer really helps, when we have a tight month we live off what we have. If you buy a couple of things every week it is surprising how quickly it builds up.
Meal planning is a must and so is writing a list and sticking to it.
If you are going out for any length of time take some sandwiches and drinks
Another useful tip is to decide how much you want to spend and only take the cash you need that way you can see what you are spending.
I did this yesterday for my shopping for the week and only spent £48.31Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

After earlier post made the mistake of going out again to Mr M's. heard they were doing half price haddock and Somerfields half price toilet rolls, 9 Velvet.........so no haddock left, sold out by 2 0'clock seemingly......but more being delivered tomorrow so OH says he will be up there first thing to stock up! However managed to still spend £7.75 but most of it was reduced stuff - packs of 2 cooked chicken breasts down from £3,29 to £1.69. There were loads so took three packs.
Then went to Somerfields, got the toilet rolls (2 packs) and some reduced loin of pork steaks and rump steak which are sqeezed into freezer for stews at a later date...........freezer now completely full (don't know where the haddock will go if we get any but spent £10.85 :rolleyes:0 -
Lazy Daisy if you were a proper MSEer and cruel with it *wink* you'd have bought the three bars of unscented soap for 13 pence I saw in Asda last weekend. I couldn't believe getting clean could be so cheap0
