Is it? Inside or outside a branch. If its inside. That would be no point as I can go to cashier. However, if its outside (coz i need it after work sometimes) then it will be a best reply I have seen and I will come back to thank you gizmo

I am still angry with what they 'allow' me to take. Safety issue? If I need my money, I would like to get it anytime I like and when I like. I put my money in a bank in good faith but they do not allow me to assess my money when the time is needed. This just really off because they gave us peanuts for interest and charges us hell in mortgages and credit cards...Dont know what to say but want to up my limit in case any emergency.
Go into branch with a plausible reason as to why you should be allowed a higher withdrawal limit and they may do it for you. If you don;t like then change banks. Most have the same rules though........
I opened a second account (advance account) with HSBC to cover me initially, they were fine doing this and allows me £1000 per day as both can take £500 daily from the machine (2 separate transactions though so to get the grand I do 2 from each account)

You can get £600 in cash by using your card twice in the same machine at a HSBC branch. It works - don't know why.
Are you sure? It refused me when I accidentally put the same card in before they upped my DWL.......
I don;t actually think this is accurate..... I can only get £300 then £200. and I am allowed to withdraw £500.
(DWL = daily withdrawal limit)

Yep absolutely positive - done it loads of times. Most recent 2 weeks ago, was told about it by a cashier when I didn't have a cheque book with me.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -

Cheers, will try it later as going up to my branch to pay a cheque in so will confirm my attempt later.

Go where again? You make it sound like this is an issue i've raised before?never-in-doubt wrote: »that you DO need paper voucher to withdraw cash. Some branches may allow it but they shouldn't as practice.
Trust me, you turn up at your branch without a paper voucher (cheque/withdrawal slip) they will not give you any cash.
See now you're moving the goal posts for your original point, you said you need a cheque to withdraw over the counter. Nothing about withdrawal slip, each time i go to my local branch I walk in with my debit card and they ask just to fill in the slip & job done. Nothing about requiring a cheque book only like you stated.0 -
I went to few HSBC and they did require cheque book for signature to obtain cash. If I take more than £1000, they also need me to bring my passport. So troublesome0

God, I guess its all a loop hole for the banks to keep our money in their circulations all the time. In case, we withdrawn a lot of money in one go because they are using OUR money on other investments. Cant change a thing anyway, they are too strong with big muscles. Just needa talk to them and up the limit.0
