The salt is very important this is the abrasive that actually removes the debris from the plates.

Sorry but that is a load of rubbish, we have never put any salt in our dishwasher because we live in a very soft water area and it is not needed, and our dishes always come out sparkling clean.

Thats what I thought but the dishwasher repair guy told me that
Since I kept it toped up they come out perfect every time, sorry didnt mean to upset anyone just trying to help.wont bother next time.

"dual action detergent usually contains rinse aid, which is released at a different rate to the cleaning agent and so helps reduce smearing etc without the need to add separate rinse aid. Some 3-in-1 tablets contain an ingredient, which has a 'salt action', which also helps to improve cleaning, but NOTE this is not a substitute for adding salt to the water softener."

Iam assuming i must of got the wrong end of the stick and he must of bean refering to salt action in the tablets.

a dishwasher just wont work properly without the salt. the tabs that come with salt already in them are useless in a hard water area.

a dishwasher works on softened water and thats the job of the salt.

Once you've cleaned out the filter, place a cup filled with white vinegar in the bottom rack and run an empty full wash (sometimes I pop glasses in so they get some extra sparkle). That should help with any residue/limescale build up and leaves the inside looking nice and sparkly.....which reminds me, must do mine. :)

I know that the title of this forum is 'moneysaving'

But why not just go and buy 'Finish dishwasher cleaner'
Rip off the tab, place container in basket, run a hot wash.
Some white coat scientist job depends on you !!

Ps Juliepink26 don't worry , some of try to be polite, some fail :D

What bad attitude, you should note that the first word I posted was 'Sorry', when someone posts something that is incorrect advice to other forum readers you should expect to be corrected, I would suggest that before you post you check that what you are posting is correct.

Mmmm, just read thru my manual that came with the dishwasher.
It states Salt must be added regardless of using all in one tablets. Also, you can adjust the amount that is released depending on if you have hard, med or soft water.
Think I will have go at adjusting mine and see if i washes any better

looking back at your posts you seem to get real pleasure from being "mean sprited" as someone eles said. You just come across as a grumpy old fella...
I suggest you get over yourself...

Reading your posts we all have our crosses to bear but I will not stoop to your level.

And I suggest that you read the 'Forum Etiquette' before you start slagging people off just because someone politely points out that you have posted what can only be called rubbish and you do not like it.
